Fantasmic Dinner Package Changes

Hi! Please forgive me if this has been asked, but- a prev. poster had mentioned being able to pick up the tickets by the MGM gas station...would I also be able to pick them up at my resort? Thanks!

There are not tickets for this package to 'pick up'. What happens is you book the Fantasmic Package by calling and making an ADR at one of the 3 participating restaurants. Then you eat there and the waitress will give you a voucher that allows you to enter the 'special' package entrance which is near the gas station. So you cannot get the voucher at your resort...you get the voucher at the restaurant.

So, can I use my DDE card at H&V for the package? The restaurant is listed on the DDE card.

For our May trip we were thinking of eating at the Brown Derby for the Fantasmic package. Does anyone know what the fixed menu is at the BD with this package? Also, how long does it usually take to eat an unrushed meal? We're making the reservation this week and we aren't sure what time we'll need. :confused3 Thanks!!!

We ate there on our trip last February and, at that time, there was no fixed menu. They have GREAT steaks, by the way.

We were not using the package, but had a discount LUNCH voucher and made our reservation for the LAST AVAILABLE lunch seating which was 3:30. Our waiter could not have been nicer. We were never rushed, even had desert and coffee. At the end of our meal he surprised us with a voucher to get into Fantasmic (the same one you get if you HAVE the package). One of our party was celebrating his 60th birthday, so this was the waiter's gift to him!

We were out of the restaurant by 4:45 and had time to do a little site-seeing & shopping before heading to the 'garage' where we were entertained by Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum for 15 minutes or so.

We were the first guests to line up for Fantasmic which was scheduled for 7:30 that night. They let us in at around 6:15 p.m. or so, even radioed ahead that we were 'the first guests of the evening' so we were treated like royalty and got our pick of seating once we entered the theatre area. What a lovely celebration! And it was all because Jim got a "It's my birthday today" button at guest services. Pixie Dust abounded due to that button! :wizard:

So, in summary:
HBD is my personal favorite restaurant at MGM;
The food is splended and the service very professional;
It is possible, even when busy, to get a great meal and be out in 1:30 hours or less;
The garage is right around the corner from this restaurant, so even if you are rushing, you should still be fine on time;
There really are NO BAD seats in the theatre, some are just better than others;
It is better (at least for us in the 50+ club) to sit toward the TOP;
CM's are VERY RESPONSIVE to polite requests;
Magic happens - many times a day - at WDW!

Have a great trip - and think of those of us stuck at our desks in middle-america :crazy2: will ya?

So, still no definte answer. We will be going in May and were going to get a DDE card - can we use it for this 'package'...If the resturant is listed and no additional ticket price, seems like we should be able to - right?

The official word from Disney is no. If you call Disney Dining that is what they will tell you. If you call DDE, that is what they will tell you BUT some have had success using the card at H&V but I haven't heard anyone having any luck at the other 2 participating restaurants; maybe because they have a set, speical menu for the Fantasmic package and H&V is a buffet. Not sure.

So go into it thinking it won't be offered but ask and see what happens. If you don't want to take that risk, then don't do the package.

Since I didn't get an answer regarding using the DDE card at H&V for the Fant. package I tried when we went this past Monday...

No problem -- not a word was said and the 20% was taken off of the bill. When we got the bill we just put the DDE card and our charge card in the folder. We didn't even ask. When the waiter returned the 20% was taken off!

Sloan

I'm not sure if this has been answered - with the Fantasmic package at the Brown Derby, is it the regular menu?

Yes, the Brown Derby offers the REGULAR menu, at least as of January 2005.

What's the latest about H&V Fantasmic package adding the Toy Story characters?

That's 'suppose' to happen in April, but I think it will only be breakfast and/or lunch, but not dinner just like before, when H&V had Minnie and friends, she wasn't there for dinner.

I called last night to make our ADRs for our trip in May. When I asked my dining reservationist about the Fantasmic Package, he told me that I can book Mama Melrose's with the Fantasmic Package and use the dining plan. That is different than last year when we booked Hollywood and Vine with the dining plan. They wouldn't tell us officially that we could get the Fantasmic tickets, but our server gave them to us when we asked.

The thing that made me most curious is that I had to guarantee the reservation with my credit card. I haven't had a chance to read everything on this thread yet, but does that sound right? :confused3

Last Fall they started letting people on the dining plan book the Fantasmic package and yes, they have required a CC on file for quite a while now and it's for no shows. They will charge your CC if you do not show up and do not cancel.

I called this morning, and made reservation for may at the hollywood and vine for the fantasmic package, using the dining plan, and was also asked for a C/C .
But if your on the dining plan and your a no show couldn`t they just credit your dining plan as they would a C/C??

A little confused. We used dinning plan for H&V Fantasmic August 2004. Didn't know there was a change. So if we book HBD we can order off the regular menu? We love this rest. but would hate to be restricted. :banana: :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :rotfl2: :cool1: :grouphug: :bounce:

We're doing Fantasmic in Dec. We'll be eating at The Brown Derby and I have a few Questions. What time should I make our ADRs for? Is it a specified menu and must it be paid in full with credit card at time ressie is made? After Fantasmic we'll go thru the Osborne lights.
