Fantasmic dining package

We will be going to Disney in mid October. If we want to see Fantasmic is it necessary to do the dining package or is it just as easy to find seats without the package?

I dont think it is necessary but we do it every trip because you know you have seats without having to wait in line and the section you sit in is in the middle and usually not packed in like sardines like the standby sections are sometimes. One thing to note is that your dinner might be earlier with the Fantasmic package. We booked it at 180 days out and all we could get for Brown Derby was 430 for 9pm Fantasmic in August.

Its just an easy way with the perk of having a great viewing section. You can also use a fastpass for VIP seating.

We like it! If you 're fine with waiting in line for a bit or using a fp for it then no but we do it everytime. I look at it this way. I could be standing outdoors in line waiting to get in or I could be sitting in a restaurant knowing I don't really have to wait in a line at all. Either way you are using time up but I see the time better used having our meal then standing around. I'm type A though so I look for efficiency to optimize our time in the park. I also travel with the grandparents so they don't need to stand extra time in the florida heat. It's a win win for us.

Does the FastPass put you in the same viewing area as the dining package?

You don't need the package to get seating but remember you have to eat sometime that day and since we have to eat I booked the lunch at Mama Melrose. The seating is great and its just something else I don't have to worry about.

Slightly to the left, but still pretty much in the center. Its really no difference Still great viewing.

The dining package is not necessary but nice - we use it on peak times (Christmas, Easter, Spring Break) when you really do need to line up exceptionally early to get a seat. We look at that as one more ride or experience we can have elsewhere not standing in the line or risking not getting entry (this has happened to us at least twice during peak times). Otherwise arriving 45 minutes to an hour early has always been fine for us.
