How difficult is it to get a res for the Fantasmic dinner package during peak times? Is it worth it?

We didn't have any trouble getting it 180 days out for our trip during the week of 4th of July. I even tweaked the times a bit closer to the trip and had no trouble doing that. We ultimately ended up canceling because we wanted to see the Frozen fireworks and decided to go to the second F! instead of the first. We got a FP+ for the second one and were able to see both with no problem that evening. It was a great night!
