I have always heard you get better seating for Fantasmic if you book the Dining Package. We had the same seats we would have had without the package and so did all of the people who entered with us.

Actually, the seats are somewhat off to the side, so likely worse than what you could get on your own.

For me, the advantage of FDP is that I don't have to wonder if I should head over now, or if I have a bit more time. Often, the theater fills up more slowly than I think it will, but there's always that mental stress of "will I make it" when I don't have the package.

That said, I generally skip it unless I'm there during a pretty busy time.

It's not necessarily better seats, but a seat in general. When we went in August....there were a ton of people being turned away because of no seats, and we had guaranteed seats because of the package. I guess it would depend on how busy the parks were if you really needed the package. We only used it once in August. The other times in November the package wasnt needed. The parks werent that busy!!

We usually don't bother with the dining package because we go during slow times. We did go the last week of August this year and I would have booked the package but because of free dining and our last minute trip scheduling, I wasn't able to book the package. So we just got there early enough to get a seat. Turned out to be less crowded than we anticipated and we could have waited a little longer to show up. We are going President's week and I am planning to book the package even though I believe there will be two showings. DD is taking a friend who has chosen Mama Melrose as a restaurant she wants to go to (I told her and DD they could pick three sit down dinners - the rest will be counter service to save money). If we are going to eat at Mama Melrose anyhow, I figure I may as well get the package and a reserved seat so we don't have to show up too early. The point of the package to me is to get a seat without having to wait more than 30 to 45 minutes for the show. During slow times, you can get a seat in the regular section 30 to 45 minutes before. When it is busy, you cannot so the package is worth the money.

Thanks, everyone, for clarifying. I see now I didn't need the package after all.
