Hi All --

Just called Disney to try to make reservations for Fantasmic Dessert Buffett any time between Sept. 11 and the 14th and was told that Fantasmic is not running from Sept. 7th until December. So - no Fantasmic.

Was also told that, although not yet on the website list - Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was going to be closed and the Castle was going to be covered (and completely not visible) in September while they paint it -- the whole castle will be hidden!!!

In addition - as many of you already probably know, Space Mountain, Tiki Room, Haunted Mansion and Materhorn are also closed in Sept.

Oh well -- at least the ABC Primetime Preview Weekend will be going on while I am there (Sept 10-12)!

I posted a few days ago that Fantasmic wouldn't be showing until December 16, at least that's the date currently listed for CMs.

As for all the other changes, While its bad for the out of area visitors, Short of closing the park for the coming months it's going to happen. They're trying to give all of Disneyland a face lift (started a couple of years ago) and since it was in need of one, I don't mind all the blockades and stuff, but then again I'm a local, so I'll just go back again.

Yes, the castle is in need for a repaint. Plus, it's getting a whole makeover for the 50th Anniversary during that time also. Supposedly the tarps are going to have the castle painted on them, so it's just like it's there. ;)

:earseek: I'm really happy I'm going in August! I thought I was doing to DIE since there is no tiki or room snow white!

We will be there on September 10-12 and are really bummed about the Matterhorn, Tiki Room and Big Thunder! Its a surprise trip for our daughter's 8th birthday. I however, am glad that Imagine will be running instead of Fantasmic since you can see the show without having to stake out a spot 3 hours in advance! That's just my preference, I'm probably in the minority on that one. Seems like every time I log onto Disney's website with our dates something else is down! Oh well, it will be nice when it's all done!

I'm with you on that one. :wave2:

I'm getting a little bummed, too. We're making our first trip to DL in six years (did go to WDW three years ago, though) this October, and now we'll be missing:

~Space Mountain
~Matterhorn
~Fantasmic
~Tiki Room AND
~Big Thunder Mountain

Yikes, that's a lot! I understand the need for refurbishments, but it seems like 3 *major* attractions (Space Mountain, Big Thunder, and Matterhorn) down at one time is a bit much. I sure hope Big Thunder will be up and running by then.

If not, maybe Disney can work double time to get Matterhorn operational. Honestly, with that much down I'm looking forward to our trip less and less. (And that's the only time we can go, unfortunately.)

Sigh. At least DCA will be brand new for us.
