Fantasmic confussion?

Isn't Fantasmic supposed to be right before the park closes? I was just checking the park hours for Nov. and it looks like the second show is at 8:30, but the park closes at 10?...I'm a bit confused here...I'm just trying to figure out my schedule to make a PS for the Fantasmic Package...
Also, when you call to make PS for the Fantasmic Package..do you ask for it specifically or you just ask for a reservation at , for example, Mama Melrose's and they automatically put you on the Package list?

You must request a Fantasmic Dining Package at either Hollywood & Vine, Mama Melrose's (my favorite), or The Brown Derby. They typically only have early times available. The latest was 4:30 PM when I last tried at 90 days out. You may find later times open up around a month before the day you are looking for.

Not sure about your first question but as for reservations, you ask for the Fantasmic Package. I also think the dinner package is for the first show only..

I can verify that the Fantasmic Package is for the first show only. I discussed with a CM this week when making my ADRs. She checked with her supervisor and confirmed...first show only.

The most likely reason why F! is shown much before park closing is so guests can see Fantasmic! and the Osborne Lights in the same night. Since the lights go on at 6, anyone who would want to see Fantasmic! and the Lights would need to see Fantasmic first, then go see the lights.
