Our older daughter isn't really interested in a character meal, and our youngest is too young to make it worth it (she'll be about 16 months old when we go). So, we were trying to pick another special "splurge" meal/show. These three shows are all about the same price-Fantasmic is a bit more, but we wouldn't have to worry about getting there. Fantasmic does not include a full meal, and it is a show we can see anyway. I have every expectation that the Fantasmic spectacle is much better than the other two-but is it worth paying for the buffet? Is the food at the other two shows awful? THey do have beer and wine available, so that's a plus. Help me decide!

We did Medieval Times years ago but that was without kids. It was good and the kids around us seemed to enjoy it - the older ones anyway. Don't have experience with any of the others.

As far as the DL character meals - 10 really isn't too old, you'll still have LOTS of fun. We started taking our daughter at 12 months and the character meals have been the highlights of our trip and her favorite parts, so yours is definitely not too young (although still free!!!) to enjoy the experience.

We did Medieval Times in May last year and we loved it. My two girls 7 and 9 had a blast. They totally got into the show, loved the fact that you had a specific knight to cheer for, and really enjoyed getting to eat without any utensils. It was an all around good time. You get two pints of beer with your meal if you prefer it over soda, and they have a cash bar in the reception area before the show that is very reasonable. BUT...be prepared for some souvenir shopping expectations from your oldest dd. They have the reception area set up as a meieval fair with swords and outfits and hats and jewelery...you get the idea. Definitely a splurge for us but the highlight of our trip with th e inlaws. (It was the only thing we did that my fil didn't complain about...he's not a big Disney fan:confused3 )

Now, that all being said we have done two character meals. Goofy's Kitchen and Storytellers. They both enjoyed them immensely, but they got into the Meieval Times show more. But both Character meals had their highlights with memories that will last a lifetime. :goodvibes

We also did the Medieval Times Dinner in November for my son's birthday. He loved and the rest of the group did also. We had a 4 year old and an 8 year old with us. My son did a special request for us to be able to do it again for our summer trip and so I bought tickets for us. We are all very excited about it.

Anyone tried the Pirate Dinner Adventure? It's apparently v. similar in idea to MT-same price, even-but with, well, Pirates.

I think my 10 year old would enjoy a character meal; she just doesn't think so. I think she's decided she's too cool. Sigh....

Haven't done that one yet - but I bet it's neat. Your 10 year old will love the character meals (may not admit it though - lol...), you could always take her and SAY it's for her little sister and ask her to help her sister to make her feel big. I think one of my first trips was right around 8 or 9 and then again at 10 or 11 and I know I loved them even though I was pretty cool...lol...

My DS (14 yo) actually requested to do a character meal when we go to WDW this summer. . .I about hit the floor, but then again, he does take after his mother (ME, ME, ME. . .)
