I'm trying to wrap my head around the January schedule at DHS which has Fantasmic at 7pm and then has Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular at 7:45 pm.

Usually we wait for 15 minutes or so after Fantasmic ends before we even try to exit the theatre.

Does anyone think it would be a good idea to exit with the masses at 7:30 in hopes of spotting any of the 7:45 fireworks? (Seems like a really bad idea to me.)

If we follow our usual procedure and are exiting down Hollywood Blvd at 7:50 or so, is it possible we could spot some of the fireworks on our way out?

Or will there will be masses on Hollywood Blvd trying to do the same thing at the same time, such that we might just be better off staying put in the Fantasmic theatre until 8pm or so?

Will be interested in anyone's experience with this during the first week of January and grateful for any postings about it before our DHS day (which is January 7).

They did a similar schedule at first and I can't tell you how awful it was getting from that theater to anywhere.. The streets are already full with people waiting for fireworks and then you have the theater get out..

Best strategy is if seeing the fireworks is important then skip fantasmic. Second best I think to have any any chance of a good viewing spot is important than you want to get out of that theater as early as you can before the show ends.. without kids, I would probably plan to move with purpose the second the steam ship segment starts. with kids you may need to start earlier if you can't carry them.

This schedule is simply designed for guests to do one or the other. I kinda get it, but it causes a lot of frustration. I haven't been since Star Wars started (I know! what's wrong with me?), but it is a point of concern. It seems like two DHS nights will be in order.

Well this is better than both happening at the same time that they did most of the summer/fall this year. I don't disagree with you and sounds like they are trying to upsell park hoppers but I saw it when this was roughly the schedule at first and HS is just doesn't have the room for everyone. They only have the room for about 1/3rd that want to watch it.

Also, keep in mind that the fireworks are only a part of Star Wars. It will be nearly impossible to get from F! to a place where you can view projections.

No need to wait for reports, they had this same schedule earlier this year, there is simply no way to get a good spot for SWaGS after F!.
Like others have said, projections on the Chinese Theater are a huge part of this show and if you are not located in and around Centerstage you will miss it. No need to try and leave F! in a hurry if you will not find a good spot for SWaGS
Also please don't leave before F! ends, a lot of people do that and it's very disruptive to thoose trying to see the entire F! show
