Fantasmic and Osbourne Lights

Has anyone recently been able to do both Fantasmic and Osbourne (sp?) lights in the same night. I see on Jan 8th that the park closes at 7 pm and the Fantasmic show starts at 7 pm. I figure it doesnt get dark until 5:30-6 pm and that is cutting it real close to see the lights then run over to get into Fantasmic. Do they leave the lights on for the people after the show ? Any other way to see both in one night ?
I am also assuming when they say the Osbourne lights are up until Jan 8th that means the last day up is the 8th (are first day arriving) and not the 7th?

We just got back and on 12/14 we saw both Fantasmic (1st) and Osborne Lights. Fantasmic was at 7:30 and as we were leaving the amphitheatre they announced that there was still plenty of time to see Osborne Lights before leaving MGM- so we did. Disappointed, though...it used to be so nice when all the "houses" on the backlot were decorated for Christmas. Now that that area doesn't exist (refurbished into "LightsAction car stunt show), they put all the lights up on New York St. and the surrounding side streets. It now feels to me like they are just running Christmas lights down the sides of buildings in an attempt to get them all up and retain the "largest Christmas light show" billing. It was worth a quick walk-through but we weren't very pleased.

(Fantasmic, on the other hand, was great! Usually we sit fairly close to the front but as one of our party members was in a wheelchair, we sat in the raised handicapped access area at the very back of the amphitheatre. TOTALLY different experience from sitting up close!)

We were able to do both in the same night last week, we did Osborne at six then went staight over to Fantasmic and got good seats, I'm not sure if it was because at the time we went everyone was at Osborne lights still. Because about ten minutes before it started they annouced that it was standing room only. I'd say we got there about 30 minutes early, I supose we had cut it close. And the 8th might be more crowded for Osborne lights because its the last night, And if it is that street is extremely hard to get through and it might take longer to get to Fantasmic.
