Fantasmic and Fireworks - Possible to do both in one night?

So, we are planning our Oct. trip and we added sunday evening into our plans so that we could see fantasmic and fireworks(our trip last year was during the week so they weren't showing them). We've been on a couple day trips this year but everything was always cancelled because of weather so we have yet to see either one!!! My question is this: Is it possible to see the 9pm fantasmic and then hurry over to see the fireworks (9:25pm - I'm just guessing these times from last year's calendar) and still get a decent view? I know we could do fireworks first and then go to the later fantsmic but I have 2 little ones (5 and 2 yo) and I'm not sure if they'll make the later one. What would you do?

I would suggest seeing the fireworks and the seeing the 10:30 Fantasmic, but since you have little kids, I'm not sure if that would work. One suggestion (though I don't know if it would work) is to position yourself towards the BTMRR side of the rivers and when the Fantasmic finale is done, rush over around BTMRR to that area between Fantasyland and Frontierland. Go as far as you can go and it's possible that you might be able to see the fireworks. They will most likely have the main part of Fantasyland roped off, but it shouldn't be that crowded back there. Though I'm not sure what kind of view you would have.

If you didn't want to risk the bad view, you may just have to skip the first maybe 5 minutes or so of the fireworks. You can see them pretty much from all over the park, as long as there aren't many trees around.

Another way to see the fireworks and then the later show of Fantasmic is to have the kids take a long nap in the afternoon and come back for just the evening. Then have them sleep in the next day, if that's possible.

It is not really practical to see the 9PM Fantasmic and then the fireworks. At least not see the fireworks from the hub where they were designed to be seen. If it was me, with kids your age I would see 9PM Fantasmic and skip the fireworks this time. They will like Fantasmic better IMO. Older kids will enjoy the fireworks more.

I'm going in October. I thought they didn't show fireworks on Sunday night, only Friday and Saturday.

I agree with DLR29, if F! is showing twice that evening, try to catch the Fireworks, then head over to ROA for the 10:30 Fantasmic. It's a bit difficult working against the crowd who are exiting, but the CM's will guide you where to wait until the first showing clears out.

I like to use the tunnel by Rancho de Zocalo as a shortcut after the Fireworks to get into Frontierland and then scoot over to the ROA. When trying to catch multiple shows in one evening exit strategies are key.

With a 5 and 2 year old? At 10:30PM? With older kids I would agree with you, but with kids this young I do not see how it could work. My two cents. :)

If they take your highly recommended mid-day break, it could work. ;)

The 2 year old will likely fall asleep, but my 5 year old easily makes it till park closing if we take a long break in the middle of the day. JMHO. :goodvibes

Sorry to be a stickler, but if the OP wants the 2 year old to see it then it sounds like you agree that the 10:30PM will be too late. I was responding to the OP who said they wanted the 2 and 5 year old to see the shows. To me that rules out 10:30PM. :teacher:

If one agrees with that, then it is a matter of choosing which show to see because seeing both is not an option. And IMO Fantasmic will be the better choice. :)

In looking at the schedule from last year, it was showing on this sunday because it's columbus day weekend. I'm not sure of the other weekends though but I've actually heard that it doesn't show on Fri nights, but only on Sat and Sun nights.

Thanks hydroguy.....I kind of figured it would be difficult to see both and F! would definitely be my first choice.

We did both we watch fireworks and then went to the late fantasmic. It was just two adults and it was tough getting a decent spot for both. I would suggest doing fireworks on one day and fantasmic on the other day if possible especially with liitle ones.

Have fun. Melaina

I would love to do one at a time but we'll be there Sun-Wed so I think Sun is going to be our only opportunity. My only hope would be if they show F! on Mon since it's columbus day but I'll just have to wait and see when the schedule comes out!!

I just checked the schedule from last year and it showed F! and fireworks on Sun but there were also fireworks scheduled Mon as well! I hope they do the same thing this year....that would be so great!!

I think I would see Fantasmic and then just stay seated and enjoy the fireworks. Of course you can't see the castle or Tink, but you still hear the music and see the fireworks up in the sky. For a 2 and 5 year old, I think they will still get something out of seeing them. As for trying to rush out of Fantasmic and get a good spot to watch the fireworks? I wouldn't recommend this. The CM's do a good job of keeping the flow of traffic moving and not letting people stop and camp out. You'd probably spend most of the fireworks walking and not finding a place to stop.

I agree with this.
Our last trip, we came out of Pirates just as Fantasmic was ending, and hung out there for the fireworks. The area is pretty good...you can catch glimpses of Tink, and they put the lightning effect in over there, so not perfect, sorry, but still enjoyable!

You know me, Trey, livin' dangerously! We are admittedly pretty hard core about how we do DL ,and how we do it doesn't work for everyone. I agree that if they think their 2 year old would enjoy F! they should make sure a good nap is taken and try to get a spot real EARLY for the 9 pm show. Maybe if they sit closest to the right screen they will have a better view of the fireworks after.

Personally, our entire family prefers RTCT over F! and make it a priority to have good spots for it. The 10:30 F! is just icing on the cake for us.

Sorry to the OP for any misleading. . . completely uninentional.

The best view of the fireworks from the Fantasmic area is also the best view for Fantasmic--the center. Sitting there, you can see most of Tink's flight and 95% of the fireworks (a few shot from the hup are a challenge to see, but everything shot from Toontown is obstruction free).

Thanks everyone! I think we'll plan to see the early F! on Sun and then just stay there for fireworks and if we feel like we want to see the fireworks better we can always see them on Mon if they show them like they did last year.

I remember visiting DL with 3 and 4 year olds. Ahhhh the days. Now the youngest is 11 and we have tons of fun. I have found that as people's kids get older, they kind of forget how rough it was handling them when they were smaller. And how naps are absolutely critical to the whole day working. Sounds like you are still in this phase, which is a fun phase, but I like the current ages in my family better. :)
