What time does the first show start? Also has anyone ever taken counter service food into the theater while they were waiting for the show to start? When I called to make my PS for the Fantasmic Package, the CM told me to order counter service and take it right into the theater and eat it with my family while we were waiting. Has anyone tried this? What restaurants are nearby, or how would I find out on a disney map where the different restaurants are in comparison to the theater. (Hoping for Toy Story Pizza.)
I can answer these questions if not my own! It depends on the season, but in the Summer the first (and sometimes only) show is at 9pm. I have never tried it myself, but I believe you can take food in.
I'm afraid Toy Story Pizza Planet is on the other side of the park! You can get Pizza from Caralina Eddie's on Sunset Boulevard or burgers at Rosie's All American Cafe.
How about the second showing of Fantasmic - when do I need to get in line?
I don't know about July but last June we showed up about 15 minutes before the second showing. We had to wait a little while until the first show group exited the theatre. The CM's there told us that the theatre is usually only about half full during the second showings.
We went to the second show during Christmas week last year and the sections on either end were empty at show time. We arrived less than 1/2 hour in advance and got 4th row seats.
If I were to go to a second show again, I wouldnt bother to get there much earlier than 15 minutes.
In June, when I am going, the second show is at 10:30 (1st show at 9PM). It is only on some nights, though, so refer to the disney website for times and dates.
You can take food in. In fact, they sell food there. They have stands as well as CMs walking around selling drinks, popcorn, etc. We usually get there early and eat dinner while we're waiting if we haven't eaten yet.
For the 10:30 showings of Fantasmic!, they theoretically open the gate to the ampitheater at 10:00 (frequently later), but there's no need to arrive then to get good seats unless the park is super busy (and even then it's unlikely you'll need to). Go ahead and enjoy your last ride on the Tower of Terror or Rock 'n' Roller Coaster before everything shuts down at 10:00 and go to the theater afterwards if that's what you'd like to do.
We did the second show in March when the parks were packed! The second show had at least two complete sections that were empty! You could have walked in 10 mintes before the show and found good seats!
We sat way in the back by the section reserved for the dinner show people and found the view was great! It was in the Mickey section about 7 rows from the back.
