I was looking at this course from an aerial photos on www. maps. live. com and wondering if they allow you to use a sand wedge.... that looks like an actual mini golf course...

If you have played the putt-putt courses give me some input on the best one to play... better yet, a pictorial review of the fairway course would be awesome...!!!!

We are thinking of playing the gardens, and then the guys playing the fairways section..... your thoughts?

i've only played FG, both courses and i found them to be on the difficult side. the theming on the fantasia side is okay, nothing spectacular. it's my understanding that WS is better themed and easier play. but if you're looking at the par 3, you probably want the more difficult courses anyway. here's a couple of sample photos

WinterSummer is a lot more fun, The other has a lot of shots that you have to hit the ball up an incline, and the ball just keeps coming back, plus the course at fantasia isn't as cute as WS.

You cannot use a wedge at the fareways course. It's a chipping and putting course without the chipping, sorry. It's putting only. We've done both sides and we're seasoned miniature golf people. My husband and I are golfers. We've also done the Winter/Summerland course.

That being said, the Winter/Summerland course for the three of us had almost no challenges for us. I lost the round with a score that was 14 under par. Each of us scored more holes in one on that course (the winter side) in one visit than any of us had scored in our entire lives of miniature golfing. We had fun but decided that this course is more for the families with kids who want to golf but don't need a challenge course that they will get frustrated on.

The regular Fantasia miniature golf course was very challenging for us but we all were competitive throughout our session. I think the winner was decided on the last hole.

My husband and I did the fairways side and by the sixth hole, we had thrown away the score card because we were too frustrated by the course. We ended up just having fun. Now, my father-in-law and brother-in-law, whose golf knowledge is limited to knowing who Tiger Woods is, LOVE the fairways course. They also enjoy the regular course and thought it was challenging for them as well. My thoughts on the courses:

Fantasia fairways course - adults challenging, kids probably won't enjoy this one very much

Fantasia regular course - adults challenging, kids very challenging

Winter/Summerland - adults average, kids will enjoy and not become frustrated

Oh, boy! We were planning on playing Fantasia on Saturday morning because we are staying at the Dolphin and it is right across the street. But, maybe we would enjoy WS more. How do you get to WS from the Dolphin?

You get a bus to Blizzard Beach. Once there, you walk across the parking lot and get to WS.

We also like the fairway course at FG. We always seem to have a good time on it.

Don't dispair. Take a walk on over to Fantasia and check it out. You can see the entire course from the sidewalks around it. Make your own decision on if you want to try it. It's very easy to get to from the Dolphin. Just go out the entrance you would to get the Epcot/MGM boat. Head towards the Swan and before you enter that report, take a right and follow the walkway past the Swan quiet pool. The path will take you to the beach area and you'll want to make the left and go past the basketball court. Continue striaght and then cross the street to the golf course. The Cast Members are very friendly and will explain the different courses and help you with your decision if you want to play. It's worth the half hour or so that will take you.

There is no more sand or water in the fairways course - not sure when it came out, but we played there a week ago, with no sand/water. They took it out because you were supposed to pull it out of the sand and take a penalty, but people would try to hit it out anyway - made the course very messy by the end of the day I guess. Honestly wouldn't know because we never played it!

It was much less frustrating though, because the sand & water traps were just giant holes that you could putt out of. The most annoying part was when you didn't hit hard enough and it came right back to the same spot :P
