From what I understand there are certain rides where you have to leave something such as a backpack in a "locker" before getting on the ride. Does anyone know if this would apply to a fanny pack (please no making fun of fanny pack comments!!! lol) ? Hopefully we can leave them on for rides but I'm curious as we try to plan for everything! Thanks everyone :coffee:

Non obtrusive fanny packs with a three pronged buckle are accepted.

Key word!

I wear a baggalini wrapped at the waist that is very flat to my body. I never need a locker. I do pull my shirt over it occasionally at MIB where they tend to check the most.

Hi I went to Universal last year with the same worry. I ended up buying a Kipling waist bag (fanny pack) and it was perfect. This bag is very flat and is non-obtrusive. I wore it on every ride with no problems. In fact I just got back from Bush Gardens and it worked great there too. Good luck!

Yup:thumbsup2
If your fanny pack is as large as a preschooler with all sorts of bottles /attachments hanging off it , they WILL make you lock it up.I use a Kipling waist pack or my Vera Bradley one and have never had an issue

I wore the "dreaded" fanny pack for my June visit. Had no issue at all on the rides. On the Harry Potter ride they just looked to make sure it was a 3 prong.

What's a 3 prong? Are no other types of closures permitted? I have one that can be worn as a cross-body, but the strap shortens enough to be a waist pack (and the straps come off so I can wear it that way). It lays flat, but there are a couple of pockets, and they don't "buckle" - they snap or zip. Is this not permitted?

Not allowed.A 3 prong has 3 prongs that snap into the other end.

I have a pack with two zippered compartments and a front flap with magnets. Do you think I would be allowed to use this as long as I didn't put anything in the front part?

It all depends on the ride operators, and the size of the pack itself.

I'm a dedicated fannypack user, and I'm usually fine at the Six Flags park I frequent during the summer, but I was told to put my fannypack in a locker at Forbidden Journey, as well as the Hulk.

But everyone else didn't seem to mind it.

This is a three prong buckle:

This buckle is not for the compartments but for the strap itself.

Here is an example of an acceptable fanny pack with closure:

Buy shorts with pockets. We just stuff our "stuff" in the pockets with no issue.

That is a very helpful image damo, thanks! I admit to not understanding what 2/3 prong meant before!

With securely closing pockets. :)

I can't believe I am asking this, but where is a good place to buy one other than online? We leave in a few days so I don't have time to order one, but think I may give one a try this trip. No clue where to go to get one.

I don't know if you have Bentleys in the US, but they usually have them. A place that sells only bags and luggage and purses and wallets. :)

You can try T.J. Maxx · Marshalls. Should be able to find something suitable easily.

Any department store will most likely sell some sort of fanny pack. Macy's carries the Kipling line of stuff.

I feel the same way but I use one every time I go to Universal:). It does save time and headache. I actually put it over my shoulder when I'm walking the parks and put it on before we enter the ride.
