Fanny Packing List - did I miss anything?

Speaking as someone who did the parks last summer with braces...bring the toothbrush and toothpaste! I get mine off 6 days before we leave this year!!

As for the magic fountains in Epcot, could your kids wear a swim suit under their clothes (girl) or swim trunks with a shirt (boy)? This is what we started doing with my son so that we weren't always dragging around a wet kid or a change of clothes. Many of the other kids will be wearing swim suits.

WOW!! that is one heck of a list. you may need your own personal brand of asprin to help ease the pain after carrying all of that stuff around all day. but being prepared is definitly the way to be when away from home.

putting most of your stuff in a locker is a great idea. if you need anything it is close by if you dont you havent carried it around all day

one thing you forgot to add. bug spray. a small bottle of Off may help.

RE: Sunglasses: Almost everyone in my family has had cataracs later in life, which are thought to be linked to not having protection in your younger years in the form of uv shielding sunglasses. So I'm trying to prevent that, if at all possible, and having my kids wear them too. I also have an astigmatism, which increases the glare of the sun. So I recommend EVERYONE protect their eyes with sunglasses!

RE: Bugspray - got it in the form of wipes. These are much more convenient and in individual towelette size. I got them for the evenings.

RE: tomerin's asprin idea - ROTFL!!!! You are SO funny, but SO true! I don't plan on lugging all that stuff. I've GOT to downsize or store a backpack. I'll have to take the walkie talkies in case we have to get something from the locker. One parent can stay with the kids while the other fetches something for an emergency.

Wish I could do the parks with just laminated guide and camera!! I'm SO jealous! But I may be there by the last day - I may be too sore from lugging my fanny pack! Hehee. I've got to laminate my touring plans this week!

Thanks for the braces encouragment. I hate the thought of her not being able to get the food out of them. I don't think swishing works really well. She will also need her oragel too I'm afraid. She's getting ulcers because her mouth isn't tough yet.

Thanks again everyone. This is a great thread.

I used to tote my sunglasses, but ended up not using them when I used my visor. I do have glasses, however, so have the UV protection with those. My husband is more sensitive to the light and changes from his regular glasses to sunglasses even when he is wearing a hat.

I will sure miss pushing a stroller when it comes to the things that it can carry. At that point I won't bring nearly as many things as I now bring.

hyzdufan, we're with you~~~

hubby has wallet and our motel key/passes in one pocket and camera and extra film in another pocket.

I carry a folded up piece of paper in my pocket with my ride schedule.

My boys were VERY low maintainance, we stay on site so we can really get back to the resort if need be. The EPCOT and MK resorts are really very fast and handy from most places, but we never had to do that anyway.

We always go back for afternoon break, so we're really only out for maybe anywhere from 4 to 5 or so hours at a time.

Now that it's just DH and myself, I don't even have that list, and unless I know we'll see something new, we don't even carry the camera and film. I guess that means we take hubby's wallet our keys/passes and walk out the door!!!

No security check, keeps life simple.

Thanks for starting this thread! I never had a list written down of what to take to the parks (should have) because it would make things simplier. I made my list after reading all the suggestions here. And thanks "MomLovesDad" for the idea about the bug wipes. I went to WalMart this morning and bought some!

Here's my list:

My mini-backpack:
Park passes
Bandaids
Room key
Cash
Credit cards
Camera
Film
Travel size Purell
Travel size Tylenol
Bug wipes (if we are going to be out at night)
Sunscreen
Misty fan
Drivers license (the day we rent mouse boats)
Water bottle (maybe)
Q&C meal vouchers (see budget board if you don't know about these!)

DH small camera bag:
video camera
rain ponchos (if needed)

Kids individual fanny packs:
snacks
spending money

Hats & sunglasses optional for whoever wants to bring & be responsible for them.

Great list Liz. I forgot to put our meal vouchers on there. I will be the one carrying those, but most will be used in the morning at Character Breakfasts, so that will save some space. They certainly are big! But should stuff into my fanny pack just fine.

I am considering getting those sports bands that fit on your sunglasses that either tighten to secure them to your head, or loosen to hang your glasses around your neck. I don't want anything too bulky, but will need something to secure them on the rides. Does anyone do this on the outdoor rides, such as Splash Mountain or Kali River Rapids?

I just got my braces off in January, and I would also take a toothbrush while I had them on. Another idea is to get a plexi-brush (at Walmart, next to the dental floss) and use that if food gets stuck in the braces. Also, wax in case she needs it, not sure how long she'll have had the braces or if she'll get them adjusted before you go. I went to NYC about 2 weeks after I gt my braces on, and I carried all these things in my fanny pack.

WHAT THE HECK IS MOLESKIN?

I seem to be the only one who has no clue...

I only tend to bring:

Backpack for locker...
Snacks (pretzels, combos, etc.)
Sunscreen (although we grease up before leaving for the day)
Extra change of clothes (in case of uncomfortable wetness from water rides)

Fanny pack...
Camera
Lip protector
passes

Also, I've discovered that putting water bottles in the freezer the night before is a great thing. Just put the frozen water bottle on your round-the-neck bottle holder. It slowly melts throughout the day -- and you always have cool water on hand.

Why bother with the autograph book?

I'm so glad I read this...my dd just got braces and I never even thought about her needing to take a toothbrush to the parks! Thanks!

Also, I don't think anyone said this, but we got our cooldanas at WalMart.

I have gotten such GREAT info from this thread! Thank you everyone. I've still yet to pack my revised list into my fanny pack to see how it is. I'm going to try to do it tomorrow morning, and I'll weigh it just to give some of you a laugh.:jester:

Moleskin - kindof like bandaids, but thicker and sticks better. It comes in squares, like 3x3 or something, and you can cut it to fit your blister. Tons of people on the board have suggested it. Hopefully I won't need it! But then again, I am a "boyscout" packer.

Thank you so much everyone for confirming that we do need brushes for dd's braces. And yes, I think we'll need the wax too, because she will be getting them adjusted 2 days before we leave. And I think they will be putting bands on that day too. We'll probably have to carry around extra pairs of bands, just in case. They shouldn't add too much to the load though, ;)

Thanks Praise2Him - and yes, we do give Him praise for living in such a blessed country that we have the convenience of worrying about the best way to pack our fanny packs for WDW! - Thanks for sharing about the cooldanas. I actually bought mine on line, after searching in WalMart for them unsuccessfully. Well, just a few days after they arrived, I was in WalMart and guess what - they had them!! Sporting section! But they are not quite as thick or "stylish" as the ones I got on line....can you tell I'm trying to make myself feel better?! I actually got 2 more from Walmart - $4 less!

OH - found some hand sanitizing wipes - so they will be lighter than the liquid.
Thanks - Cindy
