iam a pooh size too,i found my fannypack at a flea market (brand new)for $1
it fit me fine,as for the rides never had a problem.i just turned the pack to
the side or just took it off and held it with no problems.my sister laugh and
called me a goober but after one day in the park with her carry her big back
pack ,she went and bought one the next day.now she's a big goober too.

$16 sounds about right. Besides selling them at the DW resorts, they sell them at DD and various other shops around DW. I think they change them every year but I'm not positive, but they always have tons of them in the shops.
And yes, it does have a sling backpack thingie!

Fanny pack for me too. I don't really like the looks of them but while at WDW it keeps my hands free. I would rather have comfort on vacation in WDW than to worry if i'm in style or not.

Thanks for the link! I also used to think that only dorks wore them...but I wore one last year and kinda liked it.. okay I loved it! I'm a member of the Royal Carribean Crown & Anchor Society and they gave me a RC fanny pack on our last cruise so I wore it and like I said really liked it.

I would never dream of wearing a fanny pack outside of an amusement park. I think they are quite possibly the most Goofy (hee, hee) looking accessory you could have.

However, they are truly ingenious for a hands-free, no hassle, day. Although my family makes fun of it, by the end of the day I seem to accummulate quite a bit of their "stuff" in my fanny pack.

Did anyone see the movie "The In-Laws" with Michael Douglas. There's a funny bit in it about fanny packs.

I have been searching QVC looking for a "fanny pack" that I had seen on a while back, and could not find it. After reading these post and checking out the Travelon on QVC I found it. It is called a "Pup". Not as large as a fanny pack, but seems a little more compact than the Travelon. Can be worn around waist or over the shoulder. I ordered one, I hope it is what I think it is! Anyway, check it out if you are interested. I also found a website for them at www. selectpup.com. Seems a little less "dorky"

EEEEK! Please don't succumb to the awful fanny pack! You can do Disney without needing to look dorky (sorry to be brutal, but it is just the honest truth ).

Instead, I use a small over-the-shoulder messenger bag. Men and women can both use it, and it still keeps your hands free. I love Manhattan Portage, since it is ultra-hip and still very functional (it was made for DJs to tote their records around, so men shouldn't feel so metrosexual when wearing them). Hope this helps those who still want to retain some of their coolness for their trip (and in their photos). I also still have issues about wearing sneakers with shorts, but that seems like a necessary evil!

YES, YES, YES, Babka Girl, that is exactly what i wanted, i love those colors...especially the small dj bag. I will definately peruse that site....much cooler than the regular fanny pack.

And funny you should mention the shorts and tennis shoes, i hate to wear that combo, and am trying to think of ways around it, but i am like you, i think it is necessary.

You're not supposed to wear shorts with tennis shoes?? Ok, no black after easter, no white after labor day, shave legs before wearing skirts, no tennis shoes with shorts....hey..ever wonder who makes up these rules?? I'm wondering if it will be too hot for Capris in June......now.. I can NOT bring myself to wear regular tennis shoes with capris, only the sling back show some heel kind.

Is this really a rule. i grew up and So Fla and we always!!! wear sneakers with shorts. I still do. Apparently I have not ben as fashionable as I thought. I also wear fanny packs in WDW. I am surprised Mickey lets me in looking like that.

I don't know, it looks an awful lot like a purse to me.

I'm very glad to see that other people wear fanny packs too.
Especially after reading something online recently that basically called fanny pack wearers: mega-losers
I'm a Type1 diabetic and I have a Eddie B leather fanny pack that I always use at the Parks. It's small and perfect for keeping my essentials close at hand. I can't trust leaving my stuff behind anywhere!

And I try to keep it by my hip or even in front like a kangaroo pouch.
Not sure why it's called a "fanny" pack.
Do people really wear it over their butts?
That seems like it would be really annoying!

We went to Paris last spring break and spent 2 days at DLP. I thought it would be far too gauche to wear a fanny pack at Disneyland PARIS, so I took my sleek black messenger bag. BIG MISTAKE! No one looks "chic" at a Disney theme park, even if it's in Paris. Every time I got on a ride I had to figure out what to do with my messenger bag, whereas with a fanny pack you just sit down. The messenger bag dug into my shoulder. I never feel uncomfortable with the fanny pack. My advice: Get a nice sized fanny pack at a sporting goods/outdoor store and wear it proudly with the rest of us comfortable geeks!

oh, when i was a thinner version of myself, i wore tennis shoes and shorts all the time, now, not so much I usually wear capris, and i am sorry, no matter what, tennis shoes with socks do not look good with them.

I think i may do a test run on the messenger bag, i too am wondering about the ease of one, it seems like it would flop around like a purse does. I used to wear a purse over the chest like that, and i can't see that being very functional on a ride, but maybe these messenger bags fit closer to you? I may just suck it up and go with the fanny pack...the good news is, i won't be alone!

I never thought I would EVER use a fanny pack. It is just against all my person fashion rules. However, my mother gave me a sleek looking black leather fanny pack to borrow for our WDW trip last year. I was SO glad I decided to forgo fashion for comfort. I also took a sling purse for evenings out and shorter days. It was so nice to not have a strap digging in my shoulder all day. My hands were free to pick up my dd whenever necessary and I never had to worry about my phone, wallet, etc. When people are walking around with mouse ears and goofy hats, it is kind of difficult to look silly with a fanny pack on !!!

I bought an Eagle Creek Sidekick (waist/shoulder pack) for a trip to Europe and also use it at WDW. I love it and it's wearing very well.

I also insist my son wear his own waist pack, even though he thinks it's totally un-cool. I am not the family pack mule. Each person must schlepp their own stuff!

To me, one of the beauties of a Disney vacation is that it's all about FUN--not about looking fashionable or hip. I like to think about nothing except HAVING FUN!! So my advice is to wear whatever helps you have the most fun. Criteria for your bag: holds your stuff, not a burden to carry, comfortable, convenient. Whatever fits the bill is FINE. Believe me, no one is going to be judging your bag--they're going to be too busy HAVING FUN to care about your bag!!
