Hi! This is my first post, although i have been lurking for a few weeks....i love this board, it is very friendly.

That said, i hope i don't offend with my post....

I feel the need to have some sort of fanny pack for our trip, but i have made fun of the fanny pack in the past, and feel like a hypocrite for wearing one. :rolleyes1

Are there any cool fanny packs around, any online sources? I love the idea of the thing, but i just can't see myself wearing the old school type that i know of.

TIA!

I too think that a fanny pack is geeky. But at WDW it is less geeky. I got mine from Eddie Bauer. Myfriend got a spiffier version from Patagonia. I use it for quick access to passes, money, camera, chap stick, but try to avoid too much clutter.

I used a Travelon Messenger-Style Shoulder bag. If you go here-www.irvs.com and click onto Travelon in the drop down box on the left, then to travel accessories, you'll see it for $15.01 on sale. I loved this bag. It was comfy, small enough that it wasn't a bother, but large enough for essentials. Had separate compartment for $ and tixs and i could wear it like a sling, which to me is more comfortable than a fanny pack, especially on rides.

I told family before we left that this bag will never be off my person, it contained all airline tixs, park tixs, and all $. Never once took it off outside my room.

BTW-If I wasn't such a dope, i could've posted the link straight to it, but it's too late at night to get into all that reading on the tech boards.

I second the bag like Kabuki mentioned above. Those are the most comfortable and easiest to keep on you while sitting in a ride/etc. I TRIED to stay with Disney theme and get a bag like that from disney.com- I had to return it to the store though... DON'T order one of those unless you happen to be atleast 7ft tall. Talk about huge.. I'm 5'2 and the thing was about as big as my 3yr old at the time. LOL

(ps. the one there is $19.99... saving $15.01. Just FYI) :)

I love using my fanny pack at Disney World. I just take it off when I get pictures taken.

Kabuki - I really like that bag alot - Thanks for the link - I see on in my future!

I use a really cool fannypack (well, as cool as a fanny pack can get, lol) that I got at the Mexico pavillion in Epcot. It's very small, a guatemalen weave, kind of thing. I have a bigger one that I bought at MouseGears for times where I need more stuff, but it's HUGE. I usually carry my woven backpack instead.

I own a Travelon also but I own the leather one. I love it!

I don't like the fanny packs because I need to put my purse on the counter to see into it and get what I need. A shoulder purse allows me to do this without taking it off and leaving it behind. I would have to take the fanny pack off and sit it on the counter to get what I need and leave it.

I bought my Travelon @ www.qvc.com and type in "travelon" in the search box. They have several to choose from. Mine is called "Travelon Expandable Leather Shoulder Bag w/ ID wallet" $27.18. They have a few more a little a little cheaper and not leather.

I too have always thought that fanny packs were truly geeky looking. That being said, I did wear one at WDW in 2003, and will this time too -- there' just no other way to secure the "essentials" and not carry around a cumbersome bag (although th bag suggested here might do the trick). I bought mine at EMS (Eastern Mountain sports), and at least it's fairly small.

It beats carrying around a purse. And it's WDW, so everyone has one. Geekdom rules!

It's so funny that you posted this. I too HATED fanny packs and always made fun of people that wore them. But every trip I go on I don't go without my fanny pack. It's so funny, I love that thing now. You don't have to take it off when you get on rides its just so convenient. I like it better than backpacks.

wow, thanks for all the great info. I am like everyone else, i see the beauty of the fanny pack, i really do, but just don't like the look. I love that messenger bag, though, and will order one for myself. Does something like that look ok for my dh? He just rolled his eyes when i told him he was going to have to succumb to the fanny pack, i think he would like that better as well, i will just tell him how "metrosexual" it is! :rolleyes1

I too have not been a big fan of fanny packs, but they almost seem essential at WDW. I had one last year, but it was a little to small. I have just ordered one from www.shopbags.com where they have a large selection to choose from. I wanted one that was big enough to include my camera with other essentials.

Perfect! Thank you so much for the info here :) I love the idea of fanny packs, in fact my daughter will be wearing one; however with my, ahem, voluptuous figure (heh heh) they look totally ridiculous strapped around the middle of myself, especially if I'm wearing a longer shirt that's not tucked in :earseek:

I'll be ordering one of those shoulderbags I do believe. I think before I do though, I'll look in our local stores and see if I can't find one like it without shipping attached :goodvibes

Thanks again!

I too hated the fannypack idea and think I'm pretty fashionable. I bought mine right when we arrived at DW from our gift shop 3 years ago, and I could not live without it now. It is an absolute necessity now! It's really cute. It's black and it says Disney on it in bright colors. If you are staying on property, why not wait till you check in and purchase it then? Trust me, you will love it! :earsgirl:

Does any have any info on fanny packs for us Pooh sized people? Do they get in the way buckling up the ride seatbelt?

I've used a fanny pack ONLY at WDW too. LOL
I'm going to use the messenger bag but I think I have solved my "need lime green" issue- I'll get that DIS fanny pack for my oldest daughter to wear! She's skinny -she'll look fine with it on. I look ridiculous with a fanny pack strapped around my middle. LOL

We got ours at Dick's Sporting Goods. Ones called "the North Face" They are wonderful. Lage enough with many pockets. Also a good size strap so they are wonderful for pooh size folks!!!

Here is the pack that I got for DW. I bought a plain black one from Target for $5.99 and placed the iron on Minnie patch on the front. The patch only cost $0.99 from Hobby Lobby.

I wear my 6 pocket one, tried to go without it and couldn't. I need room for my cell phone, and cameras.

If it's not too nosy of a question, could you give me a ballpark of what you paid for it at the gift shop? Dh and I have a sling backpack thingie (excuse the technical terminology.. ) that we can alternate carrying, but I'd like the kids (ds14 and ds11) to have their own fanny pack to wear. I'm sure they'd love to buy one from WDW and that would be a cool way to let them buy ONE souvenir when we get there and then save the rest of the souvenir buying until we leave.
