I don't know if this is the right board to ask this. If not, I'm sorry, please move it.
What kind of fanny pack do you use? I have looked at the travleon with side pocket for the cell phone, from QVC. Looks nice. But do I need one to carry my water bottle? I didn't see one that you could carry both. :confused3

Persoanlly, I don't like to carry a water bottle on my fanny pack. They just seem a little awkward there. I use a strap over my shoulder and carry it separately.

I've used a couple of fannypacks from EMS. It's a hiking and sporting goods store. They have an online store as well as B&M stores. I would suggest trying on any fannypack that you're considering so that you can get a good feel for how it rests on your backside or abdomen (depending on how you'll wear it). Don't go with too large a pack. It will encourage you to pack more into it and then your back will pay the price.

:) We didn't carry water bottles the last time we were at Disney, and payed the price by buying water at the little stands..Not again..
I will check the site that you recommended. Thanks.
Any one else?

Can't help with a fanny pack, I'm afraid. I just use my shoulder bag and eliminate as much as possible before hitting the parks!

Do invest in a bottle strap, though. You'll still have to purchase water periodically (or refill your bottle), but it's a great way to carry your water bottle and keep your hands free! :)

I don't carry around a water bottle anymore (I find them awkward, heavy and clunky when you carry them around with a water bottle strap, especially when you're on rides). Instead, last October I simply went up to various CS restaurants when I was thirsty and asked for a large cup of ice water. They will give it to you for free, even if you're not buying anything. It worked great - I got cold water and just tossed the cup when I was done.

I wasn't looking forward to carrying a water bottle and using a fanny pack too. That is a great tip, we'll just ask for ice water. Thanks. :thumbsup2

Coleman makes a great fanny pack. The one I have hold two water bottles (bottles come with pack).I had so much room in mine, it was great! They also make a child size fanny pack w/ a water bottle holder. My DD 10 princess: uses hers at Disney.

My rules are you want to take it in the park, you have to carry it!! :goodvibes

I know, you look like a nerd with a fanny pack, but I carry nothing in my hands all day!!

Fanny packs RULE!!!!!! :rotfl2:

I use a fanny pack that I actually bought from an online pet supply company. The company that makes it is Outward Hound. It is does have 2 water bottle holders, 3 zippered pockets. Here is an ebay item #8766525407 that shows what it looks like.

I went round and round with the fanny pack/water bottle dilemma.

We have 3 Brita bottles. When we went in October we just had 1 bottle and we all shared. I came down with some sort of sore throat thing, and of course, DS ended up with it from sharing the water bottle. No more sharing!

We have a mesh Nike backpack, and I have a holder wiht a strap for one bottle. So we'll put 2 in the backpack and I'll carry one. We have decided to just refill them each time we are thirsty, then dump whatever we don't drink so we don't have to worry about the bottles leaking or being heavy. I can't tolerate the taste of Florida water, so I will put up with carrying the bottle!

We bought oversized leather fanny packs from ebay and bought the minature water bottles. They fit well inside and we just kept refilling them whenever we ran out.

We had 2 fanny packs which were larger capacity and held 2 water bottles each, and we had 2 smaller fanny packs. The kids wore smaller ones which held snacks, disposable ponchos, personal fans and laminated touring plans for that particular day, and DW and I wore the larger ones that held the water bottles and everything else. Don't know what brand they were, but we got the 4 of them at our local Target store for about 12 bucks total.

Where can I get the bottle strap? I have a fanny pack, and was going to put my water bottle in there, but it would probably "sweat" and mess up the other stuff in there :worried: . I know you can buy them at some of the stands, but is there somewhere I can get one before getting to WDW?

it seems fanny packs are still being used, along with side bags, and backpacks.

I will probably just take my Travelon Expandable Shoulder Bag, and let hubby wear his trusty fanny pack(waist bag).

Thanks again for the comments... :teeth:

I love my fanny pack. It lets me be hands free while still being able to carry 2 cameras (camcorder and small digital), with room to spare. It's got enough zippered compartments to keep things separated, and even has a interior waterprrof pouch. I think it's actually designed as a photographers bag. Here's the link.

We found things you can slide over the rim of the water bottle then it has a short cloth piece with a metal latch attached that you can hook on a belt hoop or something else that holds regular size water bottles. Ours we got from Oriental Trading company and gave out as part of hawiian gift bags because they had flip flops printed on them. LOL But I'm sure you could find them elsewhere also.
