which one do you use at the parks and why? thanks...looking for something not too heavy but enough to carry cellphone, credit cards, eyeglasses, and some cash...and camera...thanks

I like a cross body because it forces me to stay minimal and selective with what I bring in the park. I also like that I don't have to take it off completely to pull something out really quick. And it can fit small souvenirs, something that a fanny pack can't do very well.

I carried a backpack the last two trips, but will use a cross body this time.

Waistpack..I spend more time at Universal these days and there the only bag they will allow on some rides is a waistpack.

I've always carried a backpack full of anything and everything the family would need. Now that the kids are older I'm not going to be a pack mule! I'm going to a cross body with money, camera, phone, sunglasses. Will send purchases to package pick up (we are off site). Everyone else is on their own!

Cross body bag for us. I bought a very gender neutral one and DH tends to carry it.

Vera Bradley mini hipster for me; held camera, cell phone, hand sanitizer.

My family and my sisters shared a back pack that we took turns carrying; it had bottled water, snacks, sun screen, wipes....

I have always used a small backpack until this last trip. The backpack works great for holding everything. It must have an inside zipper though for the stuff you don't want to lose (credit cards, med bottle, etc.). When you dig through the backpack for something it would be easy to accidently drop something. The only problem I have with a backpack is that I swear it always sticks to my shirt and pulls my shirt up slowly. I spend way too much time pulling down the back of my shirt. This last time I took a medium size purse. It worked great. Water bottles, phone, credit card, cash....everything fit great and it had 3 different compartmented zippers so I could not drop anything accidently. The only downfall with a purse is that I can't take turns carrying it. My guys walking around carrying a purse is a no go. :lmao: I spent 0 time pulling down the back of my shirt though and I knew exactly where our bag was. I always worry someone will sit down the bag and forget "they" were carrying it. :goodvibes

I have used a small cross body purse... i personally love fossils bags. I have also used one of those around the waist bags (do not call it a fanny pack, Haha, i think that i am to young for a fanny pack) that you can get in the luggage department, I got mine at bon-ton its called a waist stash and is 14.99. it is very slim and sat under my shirt not big and bulky but i fit more in it then you would think. But i love just taking no bag at all and avoiding bag check if i can, so if i can wear my money, cards etc in one of those small plastic pouches that hangs from my lanyard i do so, and put whatever else i NEED in my pocket. Hope that helps

Yep, for Universal, I use a fanny pack. No need to use lockers. I use a small point and shoot or phone as my camera, as both fit in my small fanny pack. If I'm not doing the put in locker rides, then I carry a string bag and use a lanyard for my tickets, id, credit card and money.

For WDW, I do a small cross body, and put a string bag in it for my bigger camera, so when I'm tired of having the bigger camera on around my neck or one of my kids' don't want to carry it, I put it in the string bag. We go when it's very hot, so the less to carry the better.

I use a cross body, it makes it so much easier and I'm just like the OP it makes you carry minimal stuff.

Last year I used a Vera bradley mini hipster and though it wasn't heavy, the strap still made my shoulder sore wearing it all week, so I'll be gabby packing it this next trip! No shame. 8)

If you have a lot of stuff with you, a backpack wins for comfort IMO. I carry a backpack style camera bag and because of the weight, it's the best choice for me.

However I have a tiny cross the body purse that I wear when going light and it is by far more comfortable and convenient. Aside from the camera gear in the bag, I don't really take much if anything other than a phone and a bit of cash/card with me.

I roll out with a crossbody backpack, the Lowepro SlingShot 102 AW.
The main compartment has enough space for my DSLR and two lenses (or lens and flash) the exterior zipper pocket holds camera accessories. The top compartment holds park stuff like sunscreen, sunglasses case, etc. There is an external pouch and strap for hauling a tripod AND one of the more important features for Orlando, there is a rain cover that tucks away until needed. it's also nice to note that when the bag is slid around to the front, it can be partially unzipped to allow the camera to be removed without drop risk.

The only drawback is that if you do have a tripod on the outside, it sticks out further than the pack and you have to always be aware of where it is and where the people around you are lest you turn quickly and clobber someone.

I vote for none of the above - I use Cargo Capris - the kind with multiple pockets on the legs. I fit camera, CC and a little bit of cash, small hand sanitizer and cell phone very comfortably and no need to go thru the Bag Search line - just walk right in.

Now that the kids are older and carry their own stuff, I use a small cross body bag and a small cinch type Disney bag. Seems like every time we go there is a chance of rain, so the ponchos go in the bag along with a water bottle, sunscreen, snacks, hand sanitizer, band-aids and wipes. I have the important stuff with me in my bag - money, camera, phone, lip balm and car keys.

I just ordered an adidas Strength Sackpack that has an outside pocket for a water bottle. Since we are AP and have MB, next trip I will switch to just the adidas bag since there is no need to fish out tickets to get fp and the water bottle will be conveniently in the outside pocket. Hoping that will work out since I hate taking 2 bags and I don't like to wear a cross body bag - I always feel it around my neck and it bothers me.

Backpack. I have to carry for two women.
