DD's school is doing 'Decades' as a theme for fancy dress for Comic Relief on Friday (we just found out TODAY!)

Bearing in mind that we have absolutely nothing in the house that is suitable as it stands, can anyone think of some way so fcustomising something we may have in order to fit the criteria.

The obvious thing would be to do 80s as 80s stuff is all the rage at the moment but not only is that the obvious choice but it would mean having to go shopping, something we just don't have time for.

Anyone got any ideas (or any 50s, 60s, 70s or other decade clothing they'd like to donate to a good cause - obviously that would only work if you live near me ;))

Go for the 90's look and get anything you can still fit into out of the back of the wardrobe! Maybe throw on a backwards cap and talk about the Fresh Prince!

Sorry, I am terrible at fancy dress too!

What a nightmare. I hate it when the school springs these kind of things on us. All I can think of is a mini-skirt and boots and lots of eye shadow for the 60's

Good Luck Joh

That sounds good, especially if you could do balck and white as a theme.

I would give in and do the 80's, leggings, leg warmers, white t-shirt with "relax" written on it tied in a knot, pony tail on the side, maybe sprinkle in some luminous stuff if you've got it - think Band Aid/wake me up before you go-go!

Good luck Joh! We had animals last week for book day, this friday they can wear anything red for red nose day!

60s - you could go with the hippy look if you have any long skirts or the twiggy look - skinny jeans, pumps and skinny t shirt with false eye lashes etc

70s - you could do punk rock, ripped up jeans , spray paint t shirt - safety pins etc, cloured hair

80s - leggings, layered vest tops, pumps, coloured tights, headbands - even mickey t shirts, waistcoat etc

Hope this gives you some ideas

How about a big white T shirt with RELAX written across it. Cheap and easy.:thumbsup2

If youve got a big enough box lying around the house and some paints (and time to make this) you could make a Rubix cube and cut out holes for head, arms for the 1970s.

Punk it up from the 80's!!!

Huge amounts of hair gel to make tall spiky hair and safety pins in all the clothes.

Goth it up from the 80's!!!

Black everything including make-up, long black dresses, coats etc.

Have fun and good luck :thumbsup2

I love the Rubik Cube idea and the Goth One, if only I still had my freaky goth stuff to send you, white face Joh, black eyeliner, boris karloff lipstick and three cans of shockwaves hairspray, and then just go black, black, everything black ... I only threw my skull boots out a few weeks ago, isn't it typical!

I love that idea. Mike and I are going to a 70s party soon and haven't sorted anything out yet.

Sorry Joh i too am useless at fancy dress idea's.I love the rubix cube idea,be sure to post a pic though so we can see what you chose :thumbsup2 .x.
