I have read that many of us sleep w/ fans. I have also read about the device that "sounds" like one. I have not read exactly what this is and where to buy it? :confused3 :confused3 :confused3
Thanks!! :flower:

I have to have a fan, also, as does DS.
DH doesn't like to have a fan actually running,
however, unless it's very warm.
So, we have something called a "SleepMate."
That is the official name of the machine,
and it sounds just like a fan.
They're not cheap, but Dr.'s offices use them
to mask their private conversations w/patients
so people outside the rooms cannot overhear.
We ordered ours online, several drugstore websites sell them.
You can do a search using the word SleepMate,
but be careful what sites are returned!
There are also numerous products sold in stores
from Wal-Mart ($) to the Smarter Image ($$$).
They have sounds like the ocean, wind, rain, music, etc.

I just have a noise machine, it is battery operated as well as ac current - I bought mine at Target for $10 - 20 It only has a few choices, the one with the running stream makes everyone LOL, it makes such a good sound of running water, everyone will run to the potty :rotfl: One is TV White noise, I like spring rain! Heart beat is just strange, and the crickets chirping, when I take it on campouts, it drives people (kids too ) crazy trying to figure it out!! :rotfl2: But it truly helps me drown out those annoying snorers!! :)

Try bringing a small fan that you can clip to a desk with you, aim it away from yourselves while you sleep but put it nearby, like on the center nightstand. That way it's near enough to your bed for the noise to heard but not blowing on you if your freezing.

We have the same cheap one from Target, and it works very well. It's small and will be easily portable. It was in the cosmetics section by the home spa collection.

We got our Sound Machine from Sharper Image. It is an alarm clock and it has 20 different noises, from White Noise to City Sounds.

I have to have a fan. in fact everyone in our house has their own that they use at night. Tried a sound machine. didn't work for me so every trip I make sure that I pack a small fan with us. Problem is that between all of us, I usually get it taken away from me. :confused3 We bring a very small " honeywell" fan that I bought from Wallmart. I make sure that the fans that I do purchase don't say... whisper quiet. don't want that  Anyway when I start my packing for our trip to disney on sunday :jumping1: You know what I will make room for.

We used to use a fan for noise. Then, we tried the cheap one from Target (Homedics brand) http://www.homedics.com/prod/detail.aspx?ID=160. The problem with this one is that it was on about a 2 second loop, so every 2 seconds, you could tell the recording was recycling and starting over. We found ourselves laying there concentrating on the looping, and it drove us crazy! Much worse than not having a sound machine at all.

Then, I researched a bit more and purchased this one: http://www.marpac.com/330.asp. It's great! We use it at home all the time and take it with us when travelling. It's by the same company that makes the "sleepmate" that luvthatduke mentioned, but this one seemed to be smaller and better for travel, but I haven't seen the sleepmate so I can't make a direct comparison.
