I dont know if this is the right forum for this question! Has anyone purchased the fan based DVD collection of Walt Disney World available on The Laughing Place Store? It seems like a great collection, but I'm unsure about fan based DVD's! I would appreciate hearing from anyone who's purchased these DVD's and what they thought!

Thanks,
Stacey Faria

I would also love to know what others thought of this

Hmm, I wonder if Disney knows that he's selling this?? :rolleyes1

It's one thing to make videos and watch videos but selling them? Anyone else see a problem with him selling them??? :listen:

Well, I am not a professional but if you want to see some Disney videos FREE. I have several on my website that I recently created from our October 2005 trip.

Just click on the Videos tab and you will see which videos are available. You need Windows Media to enjoy them!

I'd be interested in this as well.. I've debated on purchasing this collection but would like to know the quality

You oughtta be a professional! I never posted this, but I've watched your videos and they are beautiful! And the way they "go with" the music - OMG. You did an amazing job on those things.

It's perfectly legal. If Disney created the footage and it was copied and sold, then THAT is a problem. However, there are NO signs stating that there is no video allowed on many items. On those items, you can video and YOU own the rights to the video.

Also, the music on the footage that YOU film legally is not copyright of Disney. Disney legal only has rights to the music it puts on it's cd's. You cannot take cd's or copies of cd's and resell them. you can however video and sell it with the audio since it is YOUR video footage. Obviously the audio quality is not the same as the cd quality however.

Are you insane? This is along the lines of "I'm not bootlegging a movie. I just took my camera into the theater. It's MY video footage, so I can sell it."

I'd be very careful about making statements like this (unless you have a legal background, of course). Recording audio and reselling it (for example, recording a concert) is not legal just because you made the recording yourself. You also can't take a video of a performance (such as a stage play) and market it yourself.

In addition, there are intellectual property laws that can be used to stop the sale of (for example) photographs of buildings. In some cases, stock photography companies require photo releases from building owners as well as from human models for just this reason. I'm guessing this is why you don't see a whole lot of non-Disney books with pictures of the Magic Kingdom's castle on the cover.

Are these videos legal? I tend to doubt it, but I also think that Disney might create more ill will by trying to stop them than they would gain by shutting down the business. Until Disney starts selling ride videos of its own, that is.

Just my two cents.

Movies clearly state that the movie is copyrighted. The wording I used was incorrect in part of my statement but, because of one part I said, it is true.......There is no statement of not videoing the show and/or copying the show.

Im sure there are laws out there to stop things even if there is no notice, but Im pretty sure that if you video Wishes and sell the video, you're in the clear.

I see your point but, I can attest that if Disney found it to be illegal, action would be taken. It's not such a big industry that it would cause any sort of negative image. Disney is one of the most protective companies in the world against it's name and images.

They are NOT relaxed on ANY possible illegal activities. They monitor the Disney inspired LIve365.com stations for simple things such as name of the station. I had the name "Mickey Mouse Radio" on my station and was contacted by Disney's Legal Department and politely asked to remove the name "Mickey" to avoid copyright violation of the name "Mickey Mouse". They were very polite but made the point.

Point being, there's much less of a "problem" there than filming and selling some show, because it's obvious that any station on Live365.com is not sponsored by Disney and yet, they still manage that closely and enforce the copyright laws.

With that said...........Im nearly certain if they felt that these videos were of illegal nature, they'd have them removed.

Technically (I would think) if it was a copyright violation, it wouldn't be so much in selling the video as making a copy of it, which thousands of are on the net right now of rides and fireworks.

Also note that there is another site on the net right now (very lage Disney site) of which I wont name as I dont want to promote them since I really cannot stand the site's adminstrator, who sells subscriptions to be able to download Disney video content. As far as I would see it (though I dont matter), that is selling Disney video.

Im not saying IM right but I honestly dont think Disney considers it illegal or it would have been stopped by now.

can we get back on topic and find out and if anyone has seen these dvd's?
