What famous women do you admire? I've been wondering if other people admire the women I do. I'm sorry if there is a thread exactly like this. I know I started one called "most beautiful women" but I thought it might be nice to not just think about looks for a change. Anyway, post a picture of the person you admire and tell why. :)

I admire :music: :flower3: Karen Carpenter for her voice and how kind she was

Kate Winslet.
She is so beautiful...and NATURAL. And she doesn't seem like all the other actresses out there, she seems very down to earth and real. And I think she is an amazing actress and a solid inspiration.

She was not only an amazing actress, but after retiring from acting she continued to bring joy by traveling the world as a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF. :goodvibes

I agree. Kate Winslet is funny and smart and seems very down to earth. I just love how honest she seems.

I admire Michelle Williams (the actress). I find her so interesting and very unHollywood-like. All of the interviews I've read from her just seem so thoughtful.

I also really like Cate Blanchett. She's a great actress and is another one that doesn't seem to get caught up in the hoopla of Hollywood.

There are also the many wonderful first ladies that this country has had. I admire many of them as well for the various causes they have fought for and been a part of.

She's amazing, I remember watching an interview with her from the around the release of the original Elizabeth and she said she was hoping this film would inspire people to read into Elizabeth instead of just watching the film...most actress wouldn't do that, she also seems so down to earth.

Another inspiring lady for me is, Annie Lennox - Her video for "No More 'I Love you's'" has remained in my mind since it was first release and I love her work (solo or Eurythmics) and for an artist she didn't fall into the whole money thing like happens so often.

Emilie Autumn, I'm always bringing her up but she has helped me alot more than anyone could know.

Amanda Palmer, for giving me the power to laugh and abit of a confidence boost.

DestroyX (or Amelia), this woman has helped me alot with confidence she did a video for youtube and she said about not caring what people think about you...and it made me think "why should I care what people think? aslong as I like what I'm doing, what I'm listening to and what I'm wearing".

Her music videos are so unique and her voice is amazingly beautiful.
Not to mention she's so pretty and I wish I looked like her. -_-

Ahh, you beat me to it. I admire her so much. One of my main reasons for learning the languages I am learning, is because she could speak them and the amazing work she did in her life. In a weird way I feel a special connection with her, so many things in our life our similar it is scary so I've always looked up to her.

The Pankhursts - Made it possible for women to vote in my country, will be forever grateful.

Will add more when I think of them.
