My son who is 10 is asking questions about who is what to him like Aunts, Uncles Cousins, and everyone esle

Here is my delima?? I will try and explain the best I can My husband 21 years ago had a child named Jenn with a lady name Karen (i know that child is a step daughter. So Karen met a Guy named Roger and created 3 more kids.

Now my son want to know what relation???? are the 3 kids to him, since, Jen is his sister, and those are her brothers and sisters. and he is also her sister. are those his brothers and sisters??


I told him to call them cousins, my husband says half bothers and sisters.

What do you all think. They have only met like twice and we might be seeing more of them if we move to michigan, since they all live there and we live in SD

Well NOT half siblings, since Karen is no relation to him. I would say NO relationship at all. He is only related to Jenn by blood. She is his half sister since they share a father. Karen is NO relation to your son even though she is Jenn's mother.

Technically they are not related to him at all because there is no blood relationship. You might want to explain that they are not his blood relations, but that he could call them whatever he felt comfortable with?

Jenn is your son's half-sister. Her half-siblings are no relation to your son.

My half-sis from one side used to tell people in school that my half-sis from the other side was her cousin. Talk about confused...

I'd call them his sister's siblings.
