We're looking for a non-Disney vacation for our children next year, so we're taking suggestions! We'd like to know where you've gone for an all-inclusive, Caribbean vacation that's great for kids aged 10-16 and not Beaches Resorts, not the Bahamas, not Cancun, not a cruise.

We'd like a quick flight from southern East coast cities, so Jamaica, the DR or Turks and Caicos are ideal. Ready...GO!

Thanks!!:beach:

We went to a wedding in DR last year. We stayed at the Larimar Now resort in Punta Cana.
It was really nice. The grounds were beautiful, the pool area was huge and sparkling clean and the staff were super friendly. The beach was amazing.

It was all inclusive and had about 5 different restaraunts and many bar areas.

Some people we were with thought the food left something to be desired, but I am easy to please and thought it was good.

We did get a discount wedding rate, but it was really cheap with the discount, so I would think it would be pretty reasonable without it.

We weren't with any kids, so not sure what kind of activities or kids club the offer.

The Iberostar Resorts in The Dominican Republic are great!

I love the Riviera Maya/Playa del Carmen area, but since you said "no Cancun', I'm not sure if you're including the area I mentioned.

Grand Sirenis Riviera maya Mexico.
Great food, animation, dance...
We loved it...

Where ever you choose to go, make sure the beach is private and for hotel guests only. My family just came back from Jamaica and spend a lot of time dealing with locals asking if they wanted to buy things. Illegal things. Resorts that have private beaches don't have to deal with this and the beach is clean. Having your child dig up a used condom or beer bottle is not much fun!!
