family suites handicapped accessible?

We will be staying in the family suites. Are there rooms that are handicapped accessible....grab bars inthe shower, etc? If so, are they closer to the lobby or further?

Yes we stayed in an accessible suite last year. It had a roll in shower w/ bench and grab bars as well as bars around the toliet. The second bathroom was a regular bathroom. Please be warned that when the pull outs are out there is very little room to pass by. As well in the bedroom there was very little room around the bed. My FIL manged ok enough but I think someone in a larger powerchair or scooter would find it tight.

I don't remember the room number but it was facing the parking lot , building was right beside the main pool and and main building. Oh and it was a ground floor room.

I have not been in them, but from the floor plans I have seen, I can see that they would be tight when the pull outs are open as mom22belles mentioned.

Also, people have posted that the handicapped accessible ones can be anywhere in the area where the family villas are. The ADA specifies that accessible rooms should be located in all areas/view types.

Also, you will need to be specific what you need. Some resorts have grab bars in all the tubs of the first floor rooms and consider them handicapped accessible. If that is what you need, you can specify that. There is a picture of a tub with grab bars in the resort post of the disABILITIES FAQs thread near the top of this board.
But, if you need a room that is fully handicapped accessible, with a roll in shower, those are in shorter supply and you do need to arrange that with the WDW Special Reservations Department.
