Family Suites @ All Star Music

I wouldn't have a problem with them getting rid of the chair in the livingroom and making it into a twin sleeper chair. As someone posted, it would be "tight" at night when both the sofa and the chair were open, but with both folded up during the day, it would be fine.

As far as the new family suites devaluing the DVC, I don't think it will be a hge issue. My perception is that the family suites will be used more by the folks who are doing a "once in a lifetime" or "once every several years" type of trip, and want to have a bit more room for their family and have the kitchenette. I think DVCers vacation differently than these folks, so that probably won't change. Truthfully, no offense to the value resorts, but I have no real desire to stay in one. DH & I are child-free and fortunate enough to be able to travel a little better than budget, so even if we weren't DVCers, we'd probably still do at least a moderate and preferably a deluxe for our vacations.

But for families who want the extra space and the kitchenette, I think they are a great compromise.

We first looked into DVC in '96, but never took a tour and didn't know what a villa looked like. We didn't buy until '03. In '01 when we brought 2 honorary nieces to WDW for their first visit, we went with connecting rooms at AS. That worked fine, but these family suites would have been better. Actually, those 2 girls showed me/us how to have fun at an All Stars resort. DH and I had stayed there once before and been sadly disappointed, for instance, no towels AT the pools. The girls ooohed and ahhhed at EVERYTHING (for instance the popcorn box lights) and we actually learned to appreciate some simple things from these girls. We've stayed at AS/Pop a few times since, and we always do enjoy the stay, but YES, they are no substitues for DVC, including a DVC studio for 2.
