This year would have been our first time riding Mission Space. I would ride it but the rest of the family say's no way, and they don't want me to ride it either. Anyone have an up coming trip with this causing problems? I go on vacations to have fun but after the little boys death, I said well stuff happens, but what do I say now?

IMO you wouldn't be missing much anyway (unless you love sustained G-forces), but Im sure a few people will disagree

Just compromise. If you are an adult, you go ahead on the ride, they should not be forced to go on it.
Anyone who takes any kind of chance should make sure their will is in order. No one can guarantee it will be safe for you.

We all opted to never set foot on that thing *ever* and we still love Epcot. :thumbsup2

Even if you decide not to do the ride still go into the after ride area it has a lot of nice stuff.

I have and will never step foot on that ride and I've actually told DS that he isn't going on again either!

We've done M:S before and today I announced that we will no longer ride it. Everyone is going to have different opinions about it but I'm not going to take that unnecessary chance with my family. Besides, EPCOT is wonderful with or w/o M:S! It's one of our favorite parks!

And another thing...you aren't missing much. Last summer most everyone in our Grand Gatherings party got sick for most of the day after riding M:S.

Once was enough for me  , I think if you are healthy it is no problem.

We all went on it (except DW who thinks Test Track is too intense). DS never wants to go on it again, I thought once was quite enough, and DD loves it. To each his or her own.

If your family doesn't want to go, go without them.

I rode it last time we went. I was a little worried at first, but my family talked me into getting on it. It was a pretty cool ride. I don't know if I'll get on it again, but at least I can say I rode it once.
I think it just comes down to you knowing how much you can handle. If you don't have any medical issues and you like thrill rides, you will probably be fine.
Have a good trip!

OK, so I have heard stories about people dying on WDW rides. Some may be false or rumors, but I have heard a CM got killed on CoP, a college student died in the HM when he stepped out of his doom buggy while on the ride, someone died on BTMR (Disneyland I believe) and didn't a girl die last year after riding ToT? A CM or worker fell to his death while working on the SkyWay. So, does this mean I won't ride any of these? No. Am I scared everytime I get on a ride? Yes. Anything can happen at any time. I could get hit by a bus tomorrow. The chances of that happening are greater than me dying on a ride I would say.

My mom's friend died at WDW. She had heart problems. She had been running around with her grandkids all day, went to bed and never woke up. We didn't see that on the news. Why? Because it wasn't "news". She died in her sleep. Could a ride have aggrevated her heart condition? Maybe. Could it have been that she overdid it at the parks? Maybe. Could it have been that it was just her time? Maybe. Whatever the cause, it happened and it was tragic.

I won't ride M:S because I don't like G-force. I won't ride ToT because I don't like to free fall. If someone died on the Teacups, I don't think it would stop me from riding them.

Since DS10 has high blood pressure and that's one of the warnings, we won't be going on it anymore either. Not worth the risk--especially since there's warnings. Grandma is also not wanting to risk it anymore. Although she has no known health problems, she's 60 and not willing to take the risk either. We'll enjoy Epcot without MS.

Once was enough for me. If your very nervouse about I wouldn't go on it because then you won't be able to enjoy in my opinion a very amazing ride. The best thing to do is decide how you feel when you get there and decide weather to go on or not.

Love Mission:Space, and will ride it many times this summer. One probably
has a better chance of getting hit by lightning (twice) than dying due
to this attraction.

I say give it a try, it truly is really, really cool :smickey:

true but that doesn't mean you won't get sick on it

I've never met a ride that I didn't enjoy... except for Mission Space. I never get sick on anything, no motion sickness or whatnot...but this ride just plain makes me sick. The first time I rode it I felt like maybe I was just dizzy from the heat, so I rode it again the next trip, same thing. I still didn't learn my lesson and rode it the following trip. Never again.

You're not missing anything.

Over 8.6 million people have ridden this ride and there have been two fatalities. One, we know for certain, was due to a heart problem that was undiagnosed. Just my two pennies but I think that *if it's your time to go, God can take you MS or on Small World. Go and enjoy the ride, even if it's by yourself!! :thumbsup2

(Unless you have certain problems that advise against riding, of course!!!)

I have high blood pressure so I can't ride it. However, my sister went on last year and told me to STAY AWAY!!!

She goes on anything, but she said this ride runied her whole day.

I personally think - two people is two too many. This ride seems to be pushing the limits on what the body can handle.

If you want to ride, then ride and let them hang out in the exit area and play games.

I have a feeling they are going to have to tone down Mission Space after this. It seems as if alot of people that were not scared to ride it before are now. We go to Disney at least once a year and at first Mission Space had lines as far as you could see. Then we started hearing from people, one was even a doctor in Orlando, that many people were getting sick on it and having to go to the emergency room. After that we started noticing the lines were not quite as long as before. This was even before that little boy and now this lady, I think it is just too intense for a lot of people. I have seen people getting off of that thing crying, carrying each other, laying down, etc. Never have i seen that before, not even off of Tower of Terror.
