So we left Larrabee at about 9am for what was supposed to be a 5.5 hour drive to Nahalem State Beach according to Map quest. Perhaps I should have printed out the instructions as it ended up taking us about 9 hours (with about an hour lunch stop to find a camp stove). The kids were wonderful and didn't seem to mind the long drive. The two older ones had DVD players which helped but I only brought those out about hour 7.
Nahalem State Park was stunning! The beach was endless, fine sand and wonderful crashing waves. We had a magical time running, digging, and being chased by waves...the smiles, laughter, shreeks of delight as a wave soaked their feet! The stars and moon were brillant. We decided that we must stop for longer on our return trip.
