With our first real day of vacation behind us, we slept great and woke up bright and early for early entry on Saturday morning at the Studios. We ate breakfast in our room and headed out for the day. We rode the Friendship launch over to the Studios and made it just before the opening. As we stood there waiting, that Disney music swelled and a cheerful voice announced the family who would be opening the park, and the folks in front of me turned and commented how it was like verbal cappuccino. We decided they were right, because it sure perked everyone up!!
The park was now officially open at 8:00 am and we were off to hit Tower of Terror and RocknRoller Coaster. We checked and TOT had no wait, RnR had a slight wait, so we got Fastpasses for RNR, and went on TOT first. I normally don't like rides where they take you up and then drop you, but this one was SO different. The random ride sequences keep you guessing as to whether you're going all the way down, up or what. I almost couldn't tell at one time whether we were going up or down. It was a total success.
Over to RNR, where DH worried it might be bad for his back, so he sat out for it while I took the kids. We all loved it, even DS, who is only 7. We reported to DH that he should have ridden, since it was the smoothest roller coaster I can remember. There was nothing it did that would have hurt his back. DS did present DD with another one of his "special" Hidden Mickeys while we were waiting. He knows just how to push her buttons!
Next the family headed over toward Star Tours and got into the middle of all the Star Wars Weekend crowd. DS got an autograph from one character I don't remember, and he had his picture taken with a Storm Trooper. We also saw Chewbacca. Darth Maul and Darth Vadar were having Light Sabre fights with children. Surprisingly, the Star Tours line was very short, so we about walked right on. I think all the Star Wars crowd was still in line for autographs and such.
Then we headed over to The Great Movie Ride and rode. We all enjoyed it, but by now I had to keep DS away from DD, as Sis had had enough "special" Hidden Mickeys for one day. Next we found the Muppet-Vision 3-D movie. All of us thought it was great 3-D. The other surprises were fun too! By now we were all getting hungry so we had lunch at the ABC Commissary. We all had plenty of good food there. We were all pretty tired, so we headed back to the Beach Club and took a short nap.
We almost napped to long as we had a PS for the Ice Cream Social at the Garden Grill at 3:10. We got up refreshed, and made our way over to Epcot as quickly as we could. We made our way through Canada and Great Britain and over to the Garden Grill with a little time to spare. We all loved the ice cream creations and the Character interaction was great. I've heard horror stories about the Characters not getting around to everyone, and some people feeling short-changed, but the Ice Cream Social at the Garden Grill was terrific. It was a calmer, quieter version of a Character Meal, and it was right up our alley! We made our way back around through the other side of the World Showcase. In Italy, the living statue gave DS a hug, but then wouldn't let go! Next we made our way back to the American Garden Theater where we caught Paul Revere and the Raiders. It was a really fun show. Afterwards we went back to Italy for our 8:00 pm PS at Alfredo's. We shared two appetizers, the Calamari and the Mozzarella. DS got the kid's Fettuccine, DD got the dinner size Fettuccine and was generous sharing with DH and I. DH ordered the Veal Scallopine and I ordered the Veal Chops. We shared a dessert sampler, but DD ordered her own Chocolate Mousse. We made our way back to the Beach Club in time for another swim, and then off to bed. But on the way, DH turned and said to me, " Have I mentioned that I was just elected Judge?" (I think he's tickled about it, don't you?)
