Has anyone ever done a family reunion in Disneyland? My family has a reunion in August every year. It usually takes place at someone's home and there are anywhere from 75-125 guests. The Reunion has been taking place since 1958. I've volunteered to host the 2006 reunion. While I'd actually love to have it in WDW it requires a location that people can drive to and about 99% of the attendees come from California, Nevada and So. Utah.
I'd like to hear about anyone's experience in throwing such a party.
Our reunion always starts on a Friday evening and runs to Sunday noon. Saturday night is always a big dinner (sometimes dancing). What I was kicking around reserving a block of rooms at one hotel that people could call in make their own reservations for. I'd have to bring in food for Friday night but this is usually a smaller crowd (30-50 people). I'd have to make sure the motel/hotel was one that offered a breakfast. We could all meet for breakfast and then have groups go off to do at least three types of activities: 1) thrill rides in DL, 2) thrill rides in CA, 3) little kids rides in DL and a fourth group would be those who just wanted to relax and hang out by the pool all day. I'd have to have food brought in/ordered for this group but the adventurers could fend for themselves in the parks.
Saturday night I thought if Arriba Y Arriba offered a banquet room we could have dinner there and enjoy the entertainment (I've never been there but read on this board they have music or dance performers). We're a Hispanic family so the Sunday night dinner has to be hispanic foods. Tapas will work here. Does anyone know if they have such a banquet-type room?
If anyone can give me some helpful hints I'd love to hear them. I'm going to be at DL in January and so will be looking at the restaurant and maybe a hotel/motel site or two during that time. Thanks.
