We are bring my brother-in-law with us on our next trip. He has a lot of special needs and I am a little overwhelmed. He is deaf, has a severe mental delay, a repaired clubbed foot, and is in diapers. He is an adult. My main concern is diaper changes. I have heard there is a family changing station at the front of the parks. I am concerned about trying to get back to the front of the park for that specific restroom every 1-2 hours. Does anyone have experience with changing adult diapers in the parks. I do know how to change him standing up but it is very tight in a regular stall. We need a handicap stall at least. Any tips or advise would be greatly appreciated.

The family restrooms are the best, because there is space and a sink in there. SOME bathrooms have a large enough stall with a sink too. My son (non verbal, Downs and Autism) is also in diapers at the parks. (at home he only needs them at night/ at Disney he has #2 accidents so he wears adult diapers 24/7 and we usually get a couple of extreme disasters per trip.). I prefer the family restrooms to taking a 31 year old man into the ladies room to change a poopy adult diaper. But sometimes they are occupied so we make do in the ladies room.

The companion restrooms are marked on the park maps. MK has one in nearly every land - thinking Liberty Square is the only one that doesn't have any bathrooms at all? They aren't just at the front of the parks, anyways.

There are not Family Restrooms in WDW - there are Companion Restrooms and they are specifically designed for your needs. They are the only restroom I can use with my adult son.

Be sure to get the Disability Map when you enter parks, and look for the Companion Bathroom signs that look like this. Man / Woman / Wheelchair. They are designed for parties where someone needs assistance from another and most likely can not enter the traditional bathroom. They will be located by the other bathrooms but other than newer lands, they won't be at every bathroom. They are at Disney Springs but unfortunately not at most hotels if you go dining or visiting.

If you are able to change him standing up, there are Companion Restrooms in each park, scattered around. I marked them on the park maps for you and, as others mentioned, you will find them marked on the Parkmaps for guests with disabilities.

They differ from Family Restrooms - those typically have a small child size toilet as well as an adult size one and have changing tables. The Companion Restrooms are a single stall restroom with a raised seat toilet, grab bars and a roll under sink. Most don’t have a changing table.
