Does anyone know if there is a photographer who will take our family photo. I'm looking for something along the lines of one we had taken at a character breakfast a couple of years ago but I want a prettier background than the Restaurantasaurus (sp?)
I know they take pictures on the rides but I want a good posed picture of everyone (DH, 2 DS, and myself) I thought maybe they had something in front of the castle? Do you need reservations? How much are the pictures?
On a completely different subject: can you buy jigsaw puzzles of scenes from around Disney World? I'm looking for something an adult would enjoy, around 1000+ pieces. Any info on these questions would be appreciated.

you will have no problem getting your picture done along main street. Photograhers are on main street and hand you a card to pick up your picture on the way out. The price is escaping me, I think around 12 or 14 dollars. The castle is the background and a few characters will have their heads poking in near the bottom of the picture.

No idea on the puzzle question.

I am curious about the puzzle thing too???......
I'm thinking maybe the "Once upon a Toy" Store in Downtown Disney??

We have had several great pictures done in front of the castle.

The last 2 times we went......my DD and I did one shot in front of each of the icons at each park....
Castle
the hat in MGM
the Tree of Life and
Spaceship Earth......

We got all 5X7s horrizontal shots and put them in one large frame......came out AWESOME!

It was funny, because we planned it after the first picture came out so good on our first day there....it was Epcot. Then when we only had MK left to take, we had to actually find 2 different photographers to get a really good shot!!

It was a lot of fun doing it...and brings back lots of great memories!!

Thanks for the replies. Great idea about getting pictures taken in front of the other icons of the parks. We will definitely be seeking out those photographers when we go in March. Any other great photo spot ideas? What about at AKL? The pictures sound great and the price is right too. Will try the toy store for the puzzle. If they don't exist, they should. Somebody could be making some money here.

Do they provide the digital file? I have no use for prints.

FatCow: I don't know if they provide digital file, but if you have a digital camera the CM will also take one with your camera. You don't have to buy the picture they take if you don't like/want it.

I believe you can get a digital copy....but we did the photo in front of the castle on main street in 8/02 and I'm having a hard time remembering which trip was which. The photo was definitely done digitally and we bought prints later on our way out of the park.

But one other thing to keep in mind, after the fact we sent a letter in to Disney asking for permission to use the photo for our 02 xmas cards. They got back to me quickly and said we could make 100 copies. My photo shop scanned the photo in and reproduced them and they came out great.

Back in 1986 we had our pictures taken on a set coming out of the POC. Anybody know it that is still there? I think at that time I got a big package with a framed 16 x 20 that they shipped to our home a couple of weeks later. Its still on my wall.

Sarahsmom85......no I don't remember seeing a photo place at POC.
The usually will have them for the newest rides or the thrill rides......they have them at Tower or Terror, Rock n Roller Coaster, Splash Mtn., Test Track, Dinosaur,.......
Can't remember if there is one at Mission Space.....I don't think so, but could be wrong.

mmmcq.....why would you ask them to use the picture...if you purchased it...it is yours...right? I don't remember seeing anything that says it was the property of WDW??!!

we had a family pic taken in MGM over by honey i shrunck the kids
they take the picture in front of a blank screen and then you pic the back ground we have the castle at night

it is a great family photo

Cindyfan,

Just because you purchase a picture taken by a professsional (and the photographers at WDW are considered pros) does not mean that you can LEGALLY copy it at will. You own the actual picture you hold in your hand, not the copyright to that picture.

mmmcq was correct in asking written permission to duplicate the photo. Chances are, Disney would not have known if she did not, but I suspect that they are very diligent about protecting copyrights.

Just because some photo places are not ethical enough not to copy copyrighted work does not make it right to do so.

gravymom....I NEVER would have even thought of something like that!!
I could see if I took a picture of the castle and tried to sell it....that would be different.....
But that seems kinda silly....oh well.
thanks.

So now that has me thinking......if I get my DD graduation pictures taken.....I should ask for the photographer to sign over the "rights" ??
What about wedding pictures??

What if they turn over the negatives....that was the case in my wedding pictures. I have all the negatives and can reprint at will....

So how would you know if it was "copyright" protected?? Don't they have to disclose that??

Oh, well, just more silly legal junk I guess.

Actually, most wedding photographers do legally retain the rights to their pictures. My aunt is a professional photographer and on the back of her pictures (she obviously goes to a professional lab) it states that the photos are copyrighted. If a photographer turned over negatives, then he must not be inclined to copyright his pictures. It depends on the person.

I must admit, though, I never thought of getting Disney's permission to copy a picture. Makes sense, though, as labs should not reproduce copywritten material without permission. I'm sure it occurs all the time; Disney would have an awfully hard time enforcing this one.

Although the photographers on Main Street are in abundance, we tried to get a good shot in front of the castle on 4 different days and it just never happened. I ended up having Josh stand in the middle of the street on the last day and luckily that one came out. I was so disappointed because I really wanted one with Josh, me and grandma in it. OH well, guess I'll just have to DRAG myself back to WDW to see about getting another photo . . . .:teeth: :teeth:

Gifts of a lifetime actually offers a photograph session. They stay with you for 90 minutes and take various pics some posed and some not. In the end they give you the film and you have it developed and do whatever you like with the pics.

The photos we took back in 1985, we dressed up in pirates oufits and there was a dummy(statue, fake pirate) sitting in a chair. Its a great picture. My DH is in a wheelchair and he couldn't get in the photo, so we say the fake pirate is him. LOL

I will take a picture of it with my digital and see if I can post it here.
