Did anyone catch Family Plots on A&E last night and what did you think?
I really liked it and found it very interesting, especially the part where they had to reconstruct the woman's face so the daughter's could see her and decide if they wanted an open casket or not.

I watched. I thought it was pretty interesting. I'm hoping they focus more and more on stuff that actually goes on in the funeral home instead of stuff like the smoking contest and Chuck going to teach boxing.

I'm really interested because my father has worked at a funeral home for over 20 years. He's the sales manager (he sells coffins, vaults, cremations, etc). I've seen some strange stuff in that embalming room!

I meant to check it out, but got turned off by the commercial showing the guy struggling with the wrapped body.

What did you guys think? Was it offensive in any way? I tend to trust A&E, but I was leery about this one. I will be delighted if you tell me I was wrong.

Is this a reality show or similar to Six Feet Under?

Reality Show - It's a real funeral home.

I didn't think it was offensive at all. I think A&E is pretty tasteful.

I think A&E is pretty tasteful.

Yeah, that's how I feel. But that commercial really turned me off.

Was that a part of the show? Was it indeed a body he was struggling to move?

Either way I guess i will have to watch it myself.

Yes, but only a few seconds. They were transferring a body and it started to slip. Nothing disrespectful. I mean, if it had been a loved one of mine, I wouldn't be offended. Some might be though. Like I said above, my dad has worked in a funeral home for 20+, I may be more jaded than most people when it comes to this stuff.

I watched it too. I thought that Shonna (sp?), the sister who does the embalming, was very sweet to try so hard to help prepare the deceased mother for her children to see her. You could tell she really cares about her job. What a sad thing for that family to go through. :(

i forgot it was on last night but I wouldnt have watched it last night since I spend this weekend with my boyfriend as he buried his grandmother...a little too close to home.

I will most likely watch it next week.

I watched it and I loved it. I thought it was very tastefully done. I was very pleased to see that the daughter made it a point to thank Shonna for all that she did for her mother. She worked so hard for it and was so worried that it hadn't been enough. I can't wait for next weeks show.

Thanks for responding guys. I agree, I found nothing offensive about it at all.
And since Airline is nothing but reruns right now I'm looking forward to the next episode of Family Plots.
Chesirechik, any of those stories you would like to share?

We watched it. I wasn't offended. In my high school economics class, we had to do a special project. My group chose the funeral industry. We visited funeral homes, interviewed directors and did reports on costs and planning. It was really educational. So in that respect, I really liked Family Plots.
