Family of the Day?

Any tips on getting chosen besides being at or close to the front gates? Also is this done only at DL on days when there is not Magic Morning? We are taking a magical trip to celebrate my Dad’s retirement & it would be so special for him to get to open the parks! TIA for any tips/advice

3 years ago- MY DS (8 at the time) and a woman from another family were talking about his empty lanyard and she gave him a pin. MY son gave her a small gift in return. We were there insanely early just hanging out at the empty gates. I don't know for sure if this was the reason why we were chosen but i think the CM seeing the random act of kindness on the womans part played into it. I had honestly never noticed the practice prior to that.

When we there a few weeks ago the CM was wandering through the crowd and there was an older woman who had just gotten married and was there for her honeymoon. She had elaborate DIY ears and the CM pulled her and her family in to be Family of the day. She was pretty far back in the line. Maybe make Dad stand out in some way? good luck!

I am usually at the front of the gates and I have seen this done at least a dozen times. Getting to the gates first helps, family of four or more helps, bright or matching colors help, acts of kindness or displays of enthusiasm helps. I think it really does come down to being lucky/random sort, like above, I have seen the family chosen from pretty far back in the line on several occasions, but mostly from the front.

Thank you for the tips! We are going to try to be at the front of the gates & our group of 10 does have really awesome matching shirts! Does this only happen on non-MM days or does it also occur on MM?
