I promise to keep this short, unlike my trip reports which are a short story.
Except for our voyage to Orlando, our 10 day trip to Walt Disney World was absolutely fantastic.
Unfortunately, we did not get to go on all the rides that we wanted too. So, if we ever go again, I think that I would plan it off season, perhaps in January.
We enjoyed all the food that we had and did not have any bad experiences at any of the restaurants that we ate at. Though we did find that the Polynesian Luau was a little over priced for what we got. I do not think that we would do that again, once was enough. We even found that AS Movies food court's food was good.
Out of all the parks that we went too, we went to all four, MGM was the least interesting for us. We planned the vacation around our kids. Our daughter was 9 and our son, who is autistic, is 6. My kids are not much into shows, which MGM has a lot of. Don't get me wrong they did have tons of fun anyway meeting characters and experiencing that kind of magic that only Disney can do. Also, Fantasmic was a must. I am glad that we did not miss that even though we did miss the Osbourne Lights.
Epcot is great. I did not think that we would like it, but we all had lots of fun. The Tapestry of Nations parade is outstanding. Also Illuminations was another must see. We did not like Body Wars but did like Test Track.
Magic Kingdom was great but was really busy. It was not too bad before Christmas but Christmas Day (we were only there in the evening) and on the 27th it was just mad.
We were lucky to experience both water parks, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. Both are great and lots of fun. I personally like Blizzard Beach better just because of Summit Plummit. I know Typhoon Lagoon has a fast slide too, but I never got to go on it. The wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon is lots of fun though.
We found the CMs great. No bad experiences with any of them.
We found the characters great also. They really play their part well. Cruella de Ville kept bugging my son saying that he was too much of a happy child and so on, Eeyore was shy, Tigger was bouncy, Mad Hatter was crazy and non-stop talking, and the three princess that we saw, Cinderella, Ariel and Snow White were perfect princesses.
The character meals we a must. Mind you if I knew how many times we would run into Mickey, Chip and Dale and Pluto, I would have planned a villians meals which I read about on the board. **Next time**
I highly recommend Tiffany Towncar service.
I highly recommend the Fairy GodMother service for babysitting.
ASMovies was an okay resort. The kids had fun in the pool and loved the buildings. My husband did not like the fact that ASMovies bus stop was always the last bus stop in the long line of bus stops at the parks.
One thing that did happen to us, though we did not notice it until we got home. During our stay we charged our purchases to our room and paid the bill off and on during the trip. When we got back my husband checked his credit card stuff on-line. Though we paid our purchases and check-out with cash or travellers cheques, because our credit card was on the Disney computer, somehow everything got charged on our Canadian dollar credit card. The mistake was noticed within a day or so and Disney credited our credit card but because of the differences of exchange rates we ended up losing just over $200 Canadian. My husband called AS Movies to find out what happened and why they charged our credit card after we had already paid for everything. Turns out a CM made a mistake and Disney is going to reimburse us the money that we lost in the exchange rate. So, now everything is fine.
Speaking of money, we never did figure out to the penny what we spent, would probably have a heart attack, but with airfare from Ottawa to Orlando, 10 nights at AS Movies, 4 7-day hopper plus passes, entertainment, food and souveniers, we spent around $9500 Canadian dollars. It was a lot of money, but I would do it all again in a heartbeat.
One last note, yeah, I know I said that I was going to keep this short, I just want to thank everyone on this board for all the tips, opinions and suggestions. You all made our trip a memory that we will never forget
