Where at Disney can a family of 5 all stay in one room? I can't seem to find this information easily anywhere!! It would be 2 adults, 3 kids (11,10 and 7).

Thanks for the info!!

is the cheapest onsite resort that can sleep 5. There is always Ft. Wilderness cabins, we stayed in one last year and they are nice with the added benefit of having a kitchen for light meals and/or breakfast. I am not sure, but I think that most of the deluxe resorts sleep 5.:teeth:

Those & any deluxe except WL (rooms sleep 4, deluxe would sleep abt 6, but is dbt the cost). I'm not sure abt AKL.

Good luck!!

We stayed at CR, plenty of room for 5.

I would consider renting points from a Disney Vacation Club member. Normal rate is 9-10 a point. Point needed per nite vary based on day of week and the season. Check out the DVC discussion boards.

My family had a 2 bedroom at wilderness lodge and it was awesome. with 3 kids, it is IMO the only way to go.

Port Orleans Riverside (are they refurbing yet?) sleeps 5 and they have trundle beds in some of the rooms. You just have to make sure you ask for one when making the reservation.
We did both the FW cabins and DVC points and would reccomend those avenues as well, but I think both the studios and 1 bedrooms only sleep 4. Good luck!

Port Orleans Riverside
Polynesian
Contemporary
Grand Floridian
Yacht Club
Beach Club
Boardwalk Inn
Wilderness Lodge deluxe rooms
Animal Kingdom Lodge deluxe rooms
Fort Wilderness cabins
Disney Vacation Club resorts, BUT this can be an expensive option even if you rent points b/c you are required to get a 2-bedroom.

Here's a different spin;

2 rooms (hopefully connecting, but at least close to each other) at a Value resort. Any of the All Stars, or the new Pop Century. This would be less than a DVC rental, or home away from home, and the extra bathroom, and room would be nice.

The 2 adults would probably have to split up, but it might be workable.

You can also camp at Fort Wilderness if you want. Not exactly indoors and a private lavatory/shower, but doable for a family of 5.

This is the option we're (my DF and I) are discussing for our first Christmas at WDW for 2004. There are 5 of us (kids are 10, 8, 7 right now), and we stayed at POR last year. Our January trip though...NO KIDS ALLOWED...our 2nd Honeymoon. Another option is the Swan.

If you're planning on going to WDW at least once a year, maybe you should look into purcahsing DVC. We are a family of 6 and it has worked very well for us.

My family of five stays at the CR. We tried POR but the rooms are only half the size. It is also very convenient being on the monorail line at the CR. It costs more but is well worth it. The room fits two adults and 12,10, and 9 year olds with room to spare.

We have the same problem. We are also a family of five. POR is a nice resort. My girls really liked the trundle bed. We just stayed at the Poly in August and had plenty of room.

For the two room option. Since your children are under 18, Disney will guarrantee you connecting rooms. Having 2 bathrooms comes in handy.

I'd also suggest the two rooms at a Value Resort- 2 bathroom and 2 TVs! ;)
I reserved 3 rooms at Pop Century for our 1/31-2/5 stay with 4 adults and 2 children. I requested 2 adjoining rooms with the 3rd connecting. *If* I get AP or FL resident rates, the cost will be less than I've paid for a single room in a deluxe for our family of 4, but we'll have 3 TVs and 3 bathrooms. Can't beat it with a stick!! ::yes::

I would also suggest two connecting rooms. We had ressies at POR until we decided to go with the two rooms at Pop. This way we will have two bathrooms, a bed for everyone (okay, DH and I will still share), and more drawer space, and just plain old more space. All of this for a mere $18 dollars more than POR. Well worth it.

Cost of two bathrooms: Priceless

You could also try the Dolphin. My family of 5 fit quite comfortably and my kids are not small!!!

If a Disney theme is not absolutely necessary for your family and cost is a factor, check out the rates at the Hotel Royal Plaza at DTD. The rooms sleep 5. You are still on Disney property, just not in a Disney hotel. You won't have Early Entry mornings, but I believe you can purchase tickets for the E-nights.

I have ressies for May (and this is a special anniversary trip) and got a terrific rate through mousesavers. Our last trip we opted for a DTD hotel (the Courtyard by Marriott) since our first family trip was at the WL and we didn't feel the pressure to experience Disney to the same extent. While I loved the WL, the room at the CYM was bigger and (in our case) cleaner. It wasn't anything special, but the staff was nice and there is bus transportation to all the parks that ran on schedule. We had the benefit of being at Disney without the higher pricetag. A huge plus was that DTD was a short walk, while bus transportation from DTD to the WL was an awful experience for us. We look forward to our May trip and will be visiting Disney resorts for a few meals like we did before, an easy way to soak up more Disney atmosphere!

You really need to ask yourself:

Do I need to be immersed in Disney 24/7?
How small of a room do we want 5 people in?
How much can we afford?
How much time will we spend at our hotel, and how much of that won't be sleeping and showering?

You can have a great time at a DTD hotel, just as you could have a lousy time at a Disney resort. While an awesome resort is great, how much fun you have is all in the family's attitude.

Honestly though, if money is NOT a factor at all, I would stay somewhere like the Beach Club in the villas.::yes::

When are kids were younger we stayed at POR in the Alligator Bayou section and used a trundle bed. The last couple trips we stayed at the CR. The larger room was really nice ( our last trip the kids were 16,13, and 10) . You also can't beat the convenience of the CR:D

Depending on when you are going, renting points from a DVC member may be the way to go. You will need a 2 bedroom but you will be surprised at how little the cost difference would be between getting 2 value resort rooms or a 2 Bedroom DVC unit- and believe me the DVC villas are luxurious. Give me some dates that you have in mind and I would be happy to work up some amounts for you!

BabyNurse--Since you apparently are a nurse, you qualify for the teacher/govt/nurse rate at the Swan/Dolphin. The Swan is $144/night and the Dolphin is $129. It's a great rate for a deluxe hotel that's on site, even though not owned by Disney. You will be right by Epcot/MGM/Boardwalk. The transportation is great to the MK/AK. We stayed at the Dolphin and didn't have to rent a car since everything is so close. Saved a lot of money that way.
