Family of 9 - need hotel

Can someone please inform me through there experiences or hear -say on which Good neighborhood hotels are super family friendly?

I was looking at the Howard Johnson impressed me with Pirate Themed pools and room, but I am going in Novmeber would I even be able to go into the pool then, would it be cold. Are there heated pools?

Any information relative would be greatly appreciated.

I would look into Desert Inn and suite's connecting rooms, the plus is they have an indoor pool!

I would recommend getting a hotel across the street from the park (Park Vue, Desert Inn, Best Western) so the teens can go on their own.

We're going in March and are staying at the Desert Inn and Suites (Parlor Family Suite C2 which sleeps 10 . . . 4 queen beds and a sofa sleeper). We chose it because of the configuration and location, but Hojo's was definitely a strong runner-up (a bit further down the road, and they couldn't guarantee adjoining rooms).

I 3rd (or is it 4th?) Desert Inn & Suites (DI&S) bc it's affordable, clean, close & BIG. We will continue to stay here for these reasons.

And call THEM, not the 1-800 number. Because I did, I got a good deal. Originally (Feb) it was going for $129/nt, he gave me $10 off/night ....it pays to talk to the people on-site!

actually it says the rates were not available. is the desert not a good neighbirhood hotel? i didnt see it on the list of the disney ticket and reservation site. did you still a package deal or purchase seperately?

They are not a good neighbor hotel but alot of people on here have been and like it. Check out yelp.com or tripadvisor.com for reviews, there are a ton on all the hotels.

We are a family of 10 going but also bringing a helper so 11 people and after looking at all the pros and cons have decided the HOJO is the best fit for our family. We booked everything seperately and found that to be the best. That way if the HOJO brings in entertainment rates we can apply those.
We bought the Southern CA pass through Costco for $239 for adults and $204 for kids and that includes 3 day Hopper, SeaWorld, San Diego Zoo and Universal Studios. Then we plan to upgrade our 3 day tickets to 5 or 6 days if we want to.
I'm going to do a few character meals and will probably order those through ARES travel but I haven't figured all that out yet?

Costco also does reservations and we looked at doing the Fairfield Inn through them but there isnt' as much room and for a little more money we got so much more space doing the HOJO kids suites.

I agree, I think I do prefer the HOJO too. It has been my first choice, but figured I asked about the others.

How did you arrange other guests rooms? Are there adjoining rooms? I am a bit confused on what type of room. The kids suite does look great and i love the fact that the rooms have an eating area as well - Desert Inn did not. But I plan to stay in one room with my hubs and 3 young boys - my mom and the 3 older children in another.

In the same building (pref bldng1) and hopefully on the same floor. Who did you book HOJO with through there site?

I called HOJO and booked with their in-house people, like everyone on here suggested. Right now I was given the 15% off of the Kids suite but she said to keep calling back or checking to see if the ET rate would apply for the dates we are going. We got two kid suites and will be doing something like you where my sister will sleep in the one room and my DH and I will be in the other room. They only have two Kid suites on one floor but she said they would make sure we got the two rooms on the same floor but at opposite ends about 10 doors down someone said in Building One facing the freeway. It's the only place that they have them.

Try Anaheim Plaza they also have the suites. I checked the middle of the week for Anaheim Plaza and they have the Suites open. If it got down to it, and you were 1 person too many, AP is cheapo enough you could get an extra room for grandma
