Family of 6-which deluxe resort?

Dear Gayle

I almost forgot one important thing
When requesting an Ap rate with Guest Services they will ask for your check in and check out dates. If one day is not available for an Ap discount it will kick back all of the dates as not available. Make sure you have Guest Services check day by day for availability. You might only miss one day of your vacation for an ap discount. Also there are only so many rooms for each classification set aside.
So many Lagoon View Concierge
So many Garden view Concierge
So many Lagoon views
So many Garden Views
If you had booked your room with a rack or AAA discount in a Lagoon view Room and none are available for an Ap discount. You might still be able to get a Garden/ Pool view room with an Ap Discount. After seeing the difference in price between the two rooms might change your mind on a lagoon view room. You wont know until that time comes.

I have stayed in a Lagoon view room three times, twice in concierge. I think it was really cool but personally I don’t think it’s worth the Money unless you have it spend. It’s one of those things you feel like you have to do at least once.
You really don’t spend all that time looking at it and all you have to do is walk down to the beach and you will have the same view. The last time I took my Family we stayed in the Raratonga Longhouse with a view of the quiet pool and my family had just as much fun. Enough for today
Good Luck

Thank you for all of the info. I am glad to hear that WL worked well for you. While it is not as close to MK as Poly you get boat transport which I think would work well b/c my kids would love riding! I was wondering about the WL 1 bdrm-I'm with you, one bath is not enough!

Also, I am looking forward to hearing what you think about AKL and how it works for a large family. I hope you have a great trip! BTW, are you from LA? Prejean is definitely a south LA name.pixiedust:

My husband's daddy is from LA. He was actually raised in Beaumont and now we live in Magnolia, about 60 miles north of Houston.

When is your vacation? Have you looked at the DVC resorts? We loved all the space at BWV. While I would personally choose a different DVC resort, the accomodations were great. We paid roughly $600/night which is slightly less expensive than 2 rooms at Poly. The room layout was great too. It had a master bedrm. with a king (for me and DH) and another room on the other side of the living room with 2 queen beds (actually a queen bed and queen sleeper sofa). In the living room there was another queen sleeper sofa. Having the washer and dryer was great with young kids, I only had to pack 3 or 4 outfits for the entire trip. (Don't get me wrong I do not like doing laundry, but 1 load was no big deal in the evening.) Also, the master bath has a whirlpool tub and a separate shower in a separate area. The other room with the 2 beds also has a tub/shower combo. So, we were able to have 3 people bathing at once. Talk about quick. On the downside, I thought the housekeeping was not up to par with the regular resort (I am hoping this was just our experience at BWV). I have been trying to get the AKV 2 bedrm. for this trip, I have also tried to get VWL, but there is not any availability for the free dining promotion.

It's a small world-my Dad grew up in Silsbee right outside of Beaumont!

I have been reading a bit about the Vacation Club properties and they do seem well suited to a large family. We are trying to decide whether to take my sister along and that would probably make a difference. A washer and dryer are definitely handy with the little guys. I have been wondering if the general public can make a reservation at the AK villas or if you have to be a DVC member?

It really is a small world. I know excatly where Silsbee is. My DH still has lots of family in Beaumont, Port Arthur, and Kountz. Speaking of small world, in my neighborhood, with the same address but different street is another set of Prejeans. They are from Houma (sorry for the spelling). We actually car pooled 1 year to school. As far as we know there is no relation. At least everyone at the school knows how to pronounce our name.:rotfl2:

Yes, you can make ressies. I have been trying to get a 2 bedrm. but all that has been available is a studio, so I just keep trying. The 2 bedrms. sleep 8 also. My mom travels with us so we travel in a party of 7. Good luck with your decision and let us know what you decided.

Michele
