Friday am, THE day we've been waiting for!
Mom, Dad and little boys are headed to MK!!! Big kids opted out of this fun, their words "Mom, we've been to Disney like a gazillion times, we're so done with it!" Who ARE these children? Could I have possibly born a child that could utter, even think these words??? Apparently so.
Well, far be it for me to stand in the way of their fun. They chose to do Universal Studios instead. This worked ok with me, they are 13 and almost 17. Very responsible, experienced in the theme parks, always in touch by cell.... so, with just a bit of a sniffle and a tiny little pout, we dropped them at US. Though I did tear up watching them (happily) walk away, I quickly snapped out of it and got my own grin on
... we're off!!!
Parked at TTC and took the monorail to MK, my little boys have been to Disney, but it was 2 years ago, and they, of course, were too young to remember... we have the big monorail track (that my 16 year old got years ago) and they have been tirelessly playing with it for months, so it was a great thrill for them to ride an actual, real life, big big big one! We have stayed on site in the past and I really liked this coming into the park by monorail, the excitment is awsome! Also, because we've stayed on site, I've never seen the opening "show" where the gang comes in by train, before they open the gates, this was.... goosebump inspiring, tear jerking for me! The crowds were not bad at all and the weather was perfect as we made our way down Main Street. Our normal tradition is to head into Adventure Land first, but Daddy decided to bump off a bit and we headed towards Tomorrowland. First attraction was Monsters Laugh Factory. This is the first time we've done this, and it was alot of fun.... of course there were only 30 people or so in the audiance, so it kinda insured that we would be picked out. And we were.
Daddy and LK4 were chosen to be "that guy" whenever the character on stage said anything with "that guy" the camera panned to Daddy with Sam on his lap. It was very cute. Towards the end they asked different children questions and again, my Sam got asked.... very funny, he's just 4 and not incredibly vocal, his speech was delayed and you can't always understand him, so Mom was holding her breath hoping for the best. They asked him "do you know what you want to be when you grow up?" He said, in his most sweet little boy voice, "yes, I do!" They asked, "what do you want to be when you grow up" He said, with lots of ummms.... "I don't know yet what I will be then" SO CUTE!!! A mother appreciates that indecision.
The camera panned, yet again, to the dad and said "How about THAT GUY!"
It's was great fun, although my 6 yr old was a bit put out, because HE KNOWS what he wants to be.
It was off to Buzz Lightyear, a highlight for my recently addicted to video games 6 yr old, Space Mountain for Dad and Danny, mom and Sam opted for the people mover, much more our speed.
In Daddys words, Danny screamed like a girl the whole ride.
Nevertheless, it was one of the many big kid rides the BigKids told him he had to do. It was done, he was happy. We then moved on to the race track, that was fun for all. By now Sam was insisting we do nothing but Splash Mountain, this was his mission. We hiked across the park, stopping at the castle to watch a bit of the show, the princesses are wonderful and my 6 yr old is a big fan of them.... he still little enough to love them and not be shy about it, we hit and enjoyed Splash... not once, but twice. They both loved it, hands down it was the favorite ride of the trip.
We ate after at Pecos, standard fare, cheeseburgers were pretty good, though the chicken nuggets were terrible... we all ended up sharing the burgers. At this point it was getting hot and a bit crowded, there were lots of school groups there, 13-16 year old in matching t-shirts... we decided to hop on the railroad, just to cool down and take a break, rode it all the way around and back, did Pirates, which I love with, of course, like every other warm blooded female
ahhh Jack Sparrow
... though I do find him a bit creepy looking I must admit.
After this we got an ice cream, did Alladin and headed out of the park. My littlest one was so cute, he was hung down at the waist, dragging his arms, moaning, "I don't want to leave this place" Of course, being the entrance and all, his eyes fastened on the shiny little Mickey heads all over the ground from the welcome show and the walk out took a bit of time as he collected about 10 of them. He was happy again.
We told him we would come back to this place later. Big Kids were calling, they were ready to go. It was about 4 by now, though when we got to US they were not ready, typical, we sat in the parking lot for about 1/2 hour.
Next up, we will call Part 2 or Part 2.
Dinner needs to be made, vaca memories put on hold.
