We are planning a trip to Universal and Disney the 3rd week of January. We would like to stay on-site at Universal at least one night so we can use the Early admission and express pass. However, we have 4 children, and it looks like only 5 people can stay in a room onsite. Any suggestions or ideas?
Thanks!

no might about it.
you would need to book 2 rooms.

only 5 peeps to a room due to the fire ordinances.

I have 4 kids, and always did 2 rooms at Universal, and I know the $$ strain it causes...... but with 6, you need 2 bathrooms too, so you need 2 rooms.

We did get a suite once across the street, that had 2 bedrooms, and a living room with pull out couch, I think it was a Holiday Inn. But of course, no FOTL access to the rides.

I have no idea what the fire ordinance says, and I suspect no other posters do either!! One would have to read the fire ordinance in order to know.

Having said that, one of the main reasons to stay on site is the front of the line access you get with your room card, as well as HP early entry. (We call it the Magic Card!)

Since hotel policy is 5 to a room, you likely will receive only 5 Magic Cards. So, to get 6 Magic Cards, you will need two rooms.

There may be some suites that sleep 6, but it's probably cheaper to book two rooms. Try booking with the Annual Passholder Rate, code is APH. Also, if you are planning to stay three or more nights, they have a stay more play more rate that can be good. Book RPH, which is the cheapest of the three and is about the cost of a moderate motel at Disneyworld. Of course, RPH blows any moderate motel at Disney out of the water. It's gorgeous!

We booked a Deluxe room for six of us in October at the Hard Rock. 2 queen beds and a pull out couch.

Did you tell them that you would have 6 people in there because the max number allowed is 5 (or 4 adults) and they will only give you keys (express passes and also needed for early entry) for 5 people.

Here are the Hard Rock occupancy rules for the deluxe queen room from the website:

Deluxe Queen Rooms
With plenty of extra living area, this spacious guest room sleeps up to five with two queen beds and a pullout sofa. The adjoining sitting area is perfect for kicking back, stretching out or just plain grooving. Room size: 500 sq. ft.

I was surprised to learn the kids suites only roomed 5 :sad2: Even though there are only 5 in our family, the regular rooms are CRAMPED (experience only at HRH). This is why we are saving up money now for our next trip, we'll need two rooms, unless the kids suites really are Club Level (we were told they aren't).

If you don't have an AP and aren't staying long enough for the stay more discount, AAA offers room discounts. We use this each trip for our 2 rooms at HRH. When booking with the AAA discount I was told by the Lowes rep on the phone that we will have a garden view and our connecting rooms is guaranteed. We do this every trip and have always had the connecting rooms. We went to 2 two rooms as soon as our kids got older since 2 bathrooms is a must for us now.
