Hi everyone,

We are thinking of finally doing the cruise....but with a family of five what rooms??? We were thinking of 2 connecting cat 10. Any comments or suggestions out there?
Thanks

On our first Disney Cruise there was just the 5 of us. We did two Cat 10 rooms. the rooms were side by side not connecting. It worked well. Only probl;em is you have to pay for two adults per room.. so you don't get the child rate for two of the kids. But it was great having a room alone with my wife.

We are a family of 5 and there is not alot of options for families of this size. However, we went in October 2002 on a 4 night and booked a cat 4 room through AAA and paid $2,700.00 and we had plenty of room. If memory serves it would have cost us more to book 2 rooms. It was worth every penny of it.

With a family of 5 your 2 least expensive choices are either 2 cat 10s or 1 cat 4. Usually it is cheaper if you get 2 connecting cat 10s. We have a family of 6 so we always get 2 cat 10s and love them...with the connecting door open they are very spacious and having 2 bathrooms is a plus while you are trying to get ready for the day or dinner. Did we miss having a window or veranda.?..don't know as we have never had one but honestly we were never in the room except to sleep and for our family it wouldn't have been worth the extra $$$. We would rather spend it on excursions. On the other hand if you are traveling with an infant that needs to nap during the day a cat 4 may be a better choice.

We are a family of 5 also and have always been in a cat. 4 room. We have now become spoiled with the veranda and really enjoy that feature. We have found that in order for the savings to be substantial enough to get two rooms we have to give up the veranda, otherwise we don't save that much money. It would also depend on the ages of your children, if you'd like them alone in a room that might not be a connecting one.

They are right, there are several options, and any one of them can be a winner!

Good luck!

We cruised in April 2004 and we had two connecting cat 10 rooms = two bathrooms . This was very nice with 3 daughters. I can't remember the exact savings but it was cheaper for us to book the two rooms. We are sailing again in April 2005 and have two connecting cat 9 rooms. Have fun planning :D

It depends on how old your kids are~this may work.

We are a family of 5, DD 16, DD 13 and DS 6. It was cheaper for us to get a cat 11 and a cat 6 across the hall. This way we have at least one veranda. Less expensive than connecting rooms or cat 4. This may not work if your kids are real young. Hope it helps.

I don't do well without waking up to daylight. The split bathroom are also a plus for us. (DS 15, DD 18 and DD12 so lots of time in bathrooms) It has always been cheaper than the catagory four. Price it out and have fun planning

We invited grandparents to go along with us and booked 2 category 6 rooms, connecting. The grandparents paid for their trip and we only paid the child's fare for the 2nd room. That worked out cheaper for us than a category 4.
