I tend to be the conservative sort, I myself have just booked 2 studios for my family of 5. I can stay in one with my daughter and my husband in the other with my 2 sons.
I like to eat out for dinner on vacation but the studio kitchenettes are fine for quick breakfasts\lunches. For the same price in points as a one bedroom you get 2 bathrooms, 2 kitchenettes, and sleeping accomadations for 8!!!!

When I am on vacation I dont need a big house, I spend my days and nights in the world and basically just sleep and shower in my room.

Just my 2 cents Felicia:D :D

I happen to agree with you, it is a great savings on points to do it that way. For two couples I would rather have 2 studios than a one bedroom just because I would like to have some privacy. I think even with more people I would rather get studios than a 2 bedroom; I love family and friends but I also enjoy my privacy at the end of the day. And it is a huge savings on points.
Thankfully everyone likes different types of accomodations so we're not all trying to get the same room types. :)

The only problem I would have with this is if the studios ended up not being anywhere close to each other. We booked a two bedroom for us one time and a studio for my mom. I requested to be near each other. I then faxed in my request a few days before our arrival. We were not even in the same building! They couldn't find anything closer. It was a royal pain. The kids would be asleep and my mom would come to our room to chat or watch tv so she wasn't all alone. But she couldn't get comfortable in her robe or anything because she had to hike back to her room. It just didn't work for us. However, if it works for your family, that is great!

Well..... it doesn't sound very romantic.....

Since we had our honeymoon at GF, Disney isn't just for the kids, its wonderful time for my wife and I to spend time together too.

Yep. Getting two studios is the most "point effective" way to get sleeping capacity for 5-8 people at a DVC resort.

But is it the best way? I don't think so. Would I want my wife and one child to be in a different studio -- maybe not even in the same building? No!

My wife, two daughters, and I always stay in a 2BR unit. We can be together as a family, but the adults and the kids have their own bedrooms and bathrooms. The parents and the kids don't even have to go to bed at the same time. We have breakfast togther, thanks to our real kitchen. There are other advantages, including a washer and dryer, a whirlpool tub, and lots of extra space.

If you're happy with two studios, that's fine. But I'd rather shorten out stay by one night (cutting a Friday or Saturday night off our stay) and use those points for a 2BR.

Definitely saves points....
But I've been totally spoiled by having that whirlpool tub, washer/dryer, real dishes and a dishwasher!

Earlier this week I was considering the 3 kids issue (thought that we might be having a third at the time...but we're not!) and I just came to the conclusion that once the smallest child would be too big to count as an infant it would have to be a 2br! No question about it. Actually I think we'll be getting 2br's eventually anyway. Once the kids are 12 and 17..well...they'll be needing separate space...

Hopefully we'll be able to manage a significant add on by then....

Nah, I think two couples with kids need a grand villa. Each couple gets their own room, the common kids share the third bedroom. You got plenty of bathrooms. I think that this is the only way.

Great solution Rich :) except that this group is only one family rather than two couples with kids.

Personally, I have NO interest in being in different rooms from the part of my family on vacation. My dh and I spend a lot of time prior to our vacations greatly anticipating the opportunity to spend time together even if it is just watching tv in the room. The added risk of ending up on opposite sides of the resort also makes this unappealing to me. I also really really like the kitchen and jacuzzi tub - just more of a vacation for me that way.

However, if this solution works out well for you then that is great. One of the best things about DVC is how you can work out a vacation that is just right for your family!!

Have a great vacation!
