Up until now the kids have been young enough to sqeeze into Pop. Or we had a family member with a connecting room and a kid could bunk with them...

I'm thinking ahead to next Fall and would like to see what other choices I have for rooms. Pop has family suites now, right? Do I have to go deluxe to get enough room for us otherwise?

TIA!

Depends on the age and size of your kids.
Port Orleans Riverside has 2 double beds, one which has a trundle bed ( a slide out mattress ) which would sleep a child up to about 10 years old.
Riverside is a Moderate hotel but it would be cheaper than a Deluxe or family suite.

As far as I know, only ASMu has suites at this point. I don't know if they're doing them at the other values or not :confused3

What would you suggest -- my kids are 14, 12 & 10. We want to go next spring. So far we have only stayed at POR. We love the hotel. I am also looking in to 2 rooms at AMU or a family suite there. What is the best option?

We really like all POR has to offer, but would like more room to spread out. I'm not sure if we'll like the AS resorts. We'd like a better pool and will miss the boat to Downtown Disney.

Any ideas??? TIA

It sounds like you go to wdw often. We bought into DVC club when we know longer qualified for a single room because our youngest was over 3. That was 4 years ago. We have LOVED it. I recommend at least looking into this option.

Most, but not all, deluxe resorts have standard rooms that will sleep 5. Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge's standard rooms sleep 4. Your other choices would be a Fort Wilderness cabin, an All Star Music suite, or a room at POR in the alligator bayou section. We are a familly of 5 and stayed there without any problems this past January. Our kids were 12, 7, and 5 at that time.
If space is a concern, I would try for a garden wing room at the Contemporary, as the rooms there are quite spacious, and cost far less than rooms in the tower.
Have fun with whatever you choose!

I should have added -- we don't want to pay the prices for the Deluxes -- we can afford it, but are never in the room -- just not worth it to us. If you had a choice between 1 room POR, 2 rooms at AS for $350 more or a family suite at ASMu for $700 more.

Is it worth the extra money between 2 rooms at all stars compared to the family suite?? Or do we just suck it up in one room because the Moderates are nicer?

That's weird. I thought that the cost of the suite was just about the same as two rooms. I think you will be too squished in POR, so I would recommend two rooms at a value resort.

a family of 5 can stay at the Dolphin -- you don't gain much room space over PO-R, but it is an option.

I was JUST coming here to ask the same exact thing (except we will have 6!! )
3 adults and 3 kids....
I am thinking of Port Orleans Riverside at the moment...

(we are leaving at the end of the month or the first week in October)

Welcome to the DIS!!!

One room at POR will be very cramped with 3 adults and 3 kids :). The 3rd child would have to be under 3 and the 2nd under about 10 to make it work at all. I would recommend 2 rooms with 3 adults just to have 2 bathrooms!

Second POR.

I would also research renting DVC points, and consider the FW cabins. The family suites at ASMu have a queen bed --huge point for me.:lmao:

Robin,

My kids are 4.5y/o 2y/o and 11 m/o ;)

I thought about getting 2 Value rooms... I'll see...
or do the wilderness cabins...

and oh the 3rd adult is my mom... :)

I was going to suggest the same thing. It looks like you can get some pretty good deals over on the DVC Rental board.
