Family of 4

We stayed in a studio the first visit, when we did a land/sea vacation. It was fine. Our kids were 12 (twins) and we had no problem in a studio. It's got the little kitchenette so we could keep milk and cereal for the mornings, and a table and two chairs so the kids could sit and eat. The closet was plenty big enough as was the vanity and drawers. This was with the old sleeper sofas, which wasn't as comfortable as the new ones in there now.

Also, your three year old could sleep on the "day bed". There is a daybed bench with a cushion on it big enough for a toddler, so that's another option for sleeping arrangements.

Of course, a one bedroom is going to be nicer, roomier and has the washer and dryer, but a studio works well for four people too.

Good luck with your decision and have fun planning.

Honestly, we've done both and both are manageable. However, a 1-BR is worth the extra points to me, because I get a full kitchen, a washer/dryer and an additional room. With little ones, it's nice to have a room where you can put them to bed, shut the door and still have a place to go watch TV or a movie. Like I said, though, for our family of 4 (DS is 12 and DD is 5), either works!

We are a family of 4 DH, me, DS 11, DS 7 and we stay in studios to maximize our point usages. We usually just crash in the room or if we're back at the resort--we're in the pool. I don't feel the need for the additional space if we spend such a short amount of time in the room. We stayed in a 1 bedroom once b/c we took my Mom & felt spoiled by all the extra space.

Our next trip we will stay Wed - Sat night in a studio. On Sunday when the points go down we switch to a 1 BR at a different resort. That's our compromise.

What do you do in your room?

Is it just a place to sleep & eat a little breakfast or snack?
Do you like to lounge in the room?
Do you need privacy/extra space away from the kids?
Do you need/prefer to do laundry while on vacation?

Everyone has their own preferences. It all depends on how many points you have & how often you'd like to go.

Good luck and I'm sure you'll have a great trip w/ either.

we are one of the rare families out there - we stay in a studio most of the time. we are also a family of four - our 2 DDs are 15 and 19. It really isn;t that big of a deal. If we were not staying in a dvc resort we still would not be getting two rooms - so....

I would much rather stay in a studio and stay longer than go up to a one or two bedroom and significantly cut the number of days we can be at WDW.

You will be fine in a studio. When you stay at a hotel that is not DVC - do you get two rooms?

Only the studio plus at the BWV, which is a dedicated studio, has this "daybed". It's more like a deacon's bench with a cushion on it. None of the other DVCs have this in the studio. You are not guaranteed a studio plus and it is just a request.

All the studios other than OKW will have one queen sized bed and one double sleeper sofa. OKW will have two queen beds.

Your children are small and if you have stayed in a standard hotel room before, this will not be much different. However, a one bedroom with the separate bedroom, full kitchen, washer and dryer in the villa and jacuzzi tub make for a much nicer stay. The kids would still be on the sleeper sofa (queen sized) in the living room. At AKV the one bedroom (except for the Value one bedrooms) will also have a single sized sleeper chair that one of the kids could sleep on .

Our vacationing style is a little tighter this year, no matter where we go. If we go to the beach, it's going to be a one bed room condo. When looking into this trip, we know that if we did the hotels, it would be a single room and we were cool with that. Then I remember DVC and started looking at points and it maybe a better option for us. Sounds like a studio will work, especially at OKW. I really don't care about a full kitchen since I want to be on vacation and not cooking but the mini is good.

Our boys are 6 and 4 and we stayed in a 1BR. We put an air mattress on the floor next to the bed for them. We liked having the other room to sit in and watch Tv while they slept.

another family of four, we will do a 1 br for under 4 nights, but anything longer we get a 2 bedroom. I have 300 points, but we only do 1 trip a year, and usually end up banking a few every year, we try to do 6 nights. Love the space of the 2 bedroom!! kids are 8(DS) and 15(DD)

Family of 4 here 2 DS 5 and 2. We stay in studios each stay. FOr several reasons: we are new members and do not have a lot of points and we want to visit often have 3 trips booked this year! I am hopeful that we will one day have enough points to stay in at least the 1br for at least one week per year, but until then the studios are just fine and dandy
