Please let me know if you think I can do better.

For 2 adults & 2 children at the Contemporary Resort for 6 nights in the wing with standard view AAA rate of $1590.00. We are driving down & I figure that the first day we will be at the pool, & after the 6th night we will checkout, so 2 adult 5 day park hopper @ $231.11 each, & 2 children 5 day park hopper @ $183.18 each includes tax. There is an extra $3 shipping charge from Disney to ship, or I can pick them up their for no charge.

My youngest is 4, so we really don't need the water parks. Any other thoughts or discounts I need to know?

Thanks

Make sure the reservation can be cancelled b/c you will almost for certain be able to lower that resort cost by $300-$400 when codes/specials for your times are released. I was offered a lower price for Contemporary in March (with a code) and that's peak season.

A lot of people on the boards make a reservation at the place they want to stay, then cancel it and make a new one when discounts come out. I personally wait until there are discounts and remain flexible about where we're staying until I see what rates I can get.

Since you're driving, make sure to bring a cooler, drinks, snacks, maybe even breakfast (we do) -- you'll save a lot that way.

Thanks tar heel, when I booked the room with WDW they said it could be modified with any new codes that come out.

When you say " I was offered a lower price for Contemporary in March (with a code) and that's peak season. " Do you mean you found the codes on one of the disboards?

Also when I check in, should I ask if I can be upgraded at no extra charge, or is this something they offer if better rooms are available?

Thanks! :)

Definately ask about being upgraded when you check in. As long as you only booked a room, not a package, you can cancel or modify your reservations up to 5 days before check-in. You may even want to look into staying at the Poly with the kids, a nice atmosphere. The Contemporary can be a long walk if you are in a Wing and not in the main building.
I agree with the above poster about bringing a cooler. We usually bring a cooler and fill it with ice and keep milk in the room to have breakfast. It is usually cereal (brought from home) and juice or donuts. We buy the milk the night before in the gift shop and it stays cold in the cooler all night. This can save a lot of money and time each day.

We would love to stay at the Poly, but CR is the least expensive of the Deluxe Resorts with a monorail. If I can get a good price when the new discounts come out, then perhaps I'll switch.
