Ok, I have searched for reviews on the family magic tour and each time my search engine doesnt work..
so I'm calling all of you to help.. It is 2 adults and a 9 year old girl we have reservations but I would like all of your opinions.
Thanks

We (me, DH, DD7 & DS6) did the Family Magic Tour last fall. All four of us really enjoyed it. Our tour guide was terrific and alot of fun. There is alot of walking involved. Book early as it does book up since the group is limited in size.

We did this in October '03

It was fantastic. The kids really had a great time. We were 4 adults and 4 kids 6,7,8, and 9.

I didn't tell them what we were doing so it was a surprise for all.

The one thing I did notice is that if you are going to do this, then be prepared to participate. It makes it so much more fun! One family on our tour didn't participate and kind of thought what we were doing was silly. :confused3

So they left part way through. You can get some real magical moments if you participate. The tour really caters to the kids, but as adults you can go along, or enjoy the fun the kids are having. The only thing I didn't do was crawl through the restaurant - I didn't think I'd get back up! LOL

My advise to you would be make sure your DD understands what you are doing on the tour, and she is excited about it. Hopefully she is the kind of kid who steps up and participates. If you think she'll think the whole thing is dumb - at that age it is a possibility then I might advise you to do something else.

The one-on-one private time with the character is great. We had Peter Pan, who was excellent - and very in character. Because we had such a large group we got VIP access to IASW. The kids felt really special walking through the MK with Peter. The looks on the other guests faces were priceless. Peter even played a game with the kids in IASW - "stinky adults" were to ride in the back of the boat! (as Peter referred to us.....)

I booked a PS for lunch at Cindy's castle after the tour, so it make it that much more special.

I highly recommend it.

My family experienced the Family Magic Tour with another Dis'ers family (Floridafam) in 2004. I wrote about it in great detail in an old Trip Report: click here -- just look for the post on that page entitled, "Day 2: Grand Floridian (Part 2)." In my post you will find links to quite a few photos.

We had a wonderful time on the tour and I would definitely consider doing it again.

When can you begin booking this? At 90 days, or the 90+10 days, or 1 year? I can't find any info about the booking window.

We did this in January and LOVED  it!! We had Wendy at the end of our tour. My DD5 got to sit by her at the end. But I'm not telling you where at. :rolleyes1 Make sure to have camera in hand and act just as silly as the kids-I did! :tigger:

I am not sure since I did not book it myself--the wonderful Sue Ellen from DU took care of it for me. I do know that she booked it way before she did all of our ADRS so I would call now .

By the way, we had both Peter Pan & Wendy.

Janet2k and Becky2005 - Thanks very much for your links to your reports about the Family Magic Tour! :thumbsup2

DD4 would love  to meet Peter Pan - every time we tried to see him on our last trip, we'd just missed him! :sad2:

I think I'll book this for her for our upcoming trip - fingers crossed that we get to meet Peter, too! :teeth:

We did it too! It was a lot of fun and you can read about it in my trip report in the links below!

:cool1:
This is all great information and good pictures. I am so excited.. I act like a kid everyday so I'm sure we are going to have a blast..
Thank you so much..
I booked the tour for August 24th :cheer2:

You're welcome, Tink, too. I just spent the past hour fixing the photo links in my post (click here). I noticed that a lot of them were broken (I guess that's to be expected after a year & a half). I hope all my photo links are working now.

We did this last October and it was fantastic! Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes! It was super humid and hot the day we did ours but still a blast. Also be prepared to participate and be stared at! During our tour one guy didn't skip well enough and the guide made him do it over all by himself. I was really surprised at how much time Peter Pan spent with our group -- we went over the official tour end time. Lots of personalized time with each child and he was perfectly in character the entire time. We went to Mickey's Philharmagic at the end. We also scheduled lunch at the castle after the tour and it worked out perfectly. Have fun!

We did it last July and DH and I as well as the kids loved it and had a great time. Don't count on Peter Pan though, we only had Wendy that day.

I have to say DS9 thought the tour was just "OK". He was the oldest child in the tour and the adults DID NOT participate. If the adults aren't playing along then the tour isn't very exciting for older kids. He hasn't mentioned it since, so I am sure it wasn't the highlight of his trip.

We actually had two couples (one on their anniversary trip and one on their honeymoon) with no kids. The other kids were probably between 2-6.

We had fun, but I wouldn't do it again. I think it depends on who is in your tour. :)

Hi!

We are doing the Family Magic Tour on 5/2 and I am so excited. I will be surprising the boys with this. With all the reviews that I have read on this thread, I'm sure they will have a blast. I think it is going to be one of those many Disney Magical Moments we will not forget.

I've not done this but after posting a thread about it earlier, I booked it for May. I'm VERY excited. Me and my mother can act like kids with the BEST of them--DS still doesn't even know we're going to WDW!!! So he will be surprised. I'll prepare him for it before we go on the tour. He likes being :goofy: too!!!

I have us booked for our trip in March. It will be DH, me, DD (20 mos), my mom, my dad, DH's mom, and Dh's dad. I have a surprise 1/2 day planned for everyone, we start off with breakfast at Crystal Palace at 8:20 then the Family Magic tour at 10. I'm really looking forward to it. I hope we have enough time to get there after breakfast but I figure almost two hours should give us enough time.

Enjoy your trip!
