any idea how much walking there usually is in the family magic tour? my dd, 5, would enjoy it, but we also would be taking along the grandparents (both 80) and little sister, 2. does anyone know if the tour is okay for that broad an age span? also, any idea what the probability is that we would get a disney villian (such as captain hook) rather than a nicer character. I don't think my children would go on the tour if a villian were present. thanks for any input.

Disney's Family Magic is a two hour adventure through the park. It does require a great deal of walking and other active movement. Disney's Family Magic Tour Guides will do their best to adjust to the pace of the group, but a certain amount of endurance is required. Would the grandparents be interested in utilizing a wheelchair or ECV? I have seen grandparents take part in Disney's Family Magic before, but if they find walking to be difficult, it may not be the best option for your family.

Disney's Family Magic storyline often incorporates Disney Villains and in some instances the tour group may encounter a Disney Villain during the tour. However, Disney Villains to not accompany the tour group during the adventure.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Disney's Family Magic is one of the best kept secrets at Walt Disney World, and the only way to live out a Disney Fairytale at the most magical place on earth. I highly recommend the tour.

Family Magic Tour? I've never heard about that before. That sounds like something we would like to do. Something different. l'd love some more info. about it? Prices, etc... Thanks.

Disney's Family Magic Tour is a two hour adventure through the Magic Kingdom park.

disneyworld.com has the following description:

Immerse your family and friends in a one-of-a-kind scavenger hunt that could only happen in the Magic Kingdom. Join together in a covert mission to gather clues to "rescue" the Park from a famous Disney villain with a sinister plan. Grab your walking shoes and bone up on your Disney trivia for the sleuthing adventure of a lifetime.

Disney's Family Magic is a remarkable opportunity to let parents and children have fun together as they live out a Disney fairtytale. Come prepared to be silly and have a great time.

While children and adults of all ages will enjoy the tour, in my opinion it is best suited for parents with children ages 4-11.

Currently, the tour departs daily from the Tour Guide Garden next to City Hall at 10:00am. The cost is $25 per person (certain discounts are available for Annual Passholders, DVC members, etc.) For more information or to make your reservation, call 407-WDW-TOUR.

magicmaker, thanks so much for the info. It sounds like it might be fun.

We just did this tour in December & it was great.

There is alot of walking, hopping, skipping, jumping,...etc. involved, but you don't have to take part in the antics if you don't want (but it makes it a whole lot funner  ).

We only encountered 1 villian during the tour, when we went to the POC ride and Hook was outside. We just yelled "COD FISH" at him and ran!! :p

The character meet at the end can vary and I was really, really, really hoping for Peter Pan and to my delight (and my kids), Peter Pan was the character!!:hyper:

We all walked over to the Peter Pan ride with Peter & my son even got to ride with him on the ride!! Great Photos!

Even the grandparents aren't up for all the walking, maybe they can wonder around while the kids & you do the tour.

I've never heard about it before, and believe me I have scoured these boards. Is it offered every day and how early do you have to make ressies?

Disney's Family Magic is offered everyday. Currently there is one tour per day departing at 10:00am. Reservations can be made by calling 407-WDW-TOUR. While reservations can be made quite far in advance (one year, I believe) during the non-peak season there is generally space available on most days.

I booked this tour. We are very much looking forward to it.

I tried to book it in September/October for April 2004 and was unable. Despite having read that I could book it a year ahead of time, there were some CMs who told me it was too early and it was not open for booking yet. I booked it in November, having been told to try in December. Go figure. I'm glad I persisted in the midst of the chaos to ask. I had no idea about it's popularity and the ease of getting the PS and was relieved that I booked it.

I hope you have equally good luck and enjoy it.

You know you could inquire from the WDW staff who know these tours how it would be for the grandparents. May be they could meet you at a fun ending place or something if not go on the trip.

After reading all the info here, and on all ears net, I decided to book this. It sounds like a great time, and my boys really enjoy "scavenger" hunts. All ears net has several "trip reports" about this tour (be warned there are spoilers in there also). I'll post my review when I get back!
