HI! I have booked the Family magic tour for dd(5) and myself. :cool1: I think we will have a great time. There is one problem. DD hates IASW. :confused3 Just hates it. Will not go on it. I have tried to ask her if she would go on it if sat a charater took her on it. She says no. I know that this is one of the rides that they often take you on at the end. How can I get her to be more willing to go on it?

As a mom I am sure if one of the characters were to ask her to go on it she would but she is also just as likely to be obstinante and say no!

Any suggestions would be great. ALso she has no clear reason as to why she does not like it. :sad2:

We went in Dec 05 and we went to see Philharmagic after the tour was over, which I have read about in a lot of trip reports. You may try calling in advance to see which ride they might be going on. It doesn't hurt to ask.

HTH!!!

We did this tour last week and went on Mickey's Philharmagic at the end as well. It was a GREAT tour and we had a blast!!! Calling ahead and asking about the ride is a good idea--the worst they can say is that you won't know til you get there!

Our characters last oct were Peter and Wendy and they pulled only the kids (no parents) aside and let them vote on 3 choices - Small World, Peter Pan or Philharmagic. I was thrilled that our group chose IASW, because they got to sit with the characters and talk through the whole ride - Peter was pointing out hidden Mickeys and special dolls throughout the ride - every child left feeling that they had spent special time with P&W. If your DD doesn't get caught up in the fun of walking over to the ride (in a very special way!) and getting on with a character(s), you could always wait at the exit for the group to return, say a final good bye to the character(s) and receive her Family Magic Tour certificate. The tour was lots of silly fun !! :thumbsup2

We took this tour in 2004, in the end it was Peter Pan and we went on IASW. I have a great pic of my YDS (then 8) walking hand-in-hand with Peter Pan thru the park and over to the ride.

We went on this tour last week, and IASW was not a choice of rides for us. There were only 10 people in our group, including adults, and at the end of the tour, our tour guide suggested "Why don't we go on a ride? Would you all like to see Philharmagic?" Some of the kids didn't respond, so Peter and Wendy then insisted that we ride Peter Pan. When we got to the ride, the CMs at the ride entrance did not seem to be expecting a tour group, but we got right on the ride anyway. The looks on the faces of the other people in line as we breezed right on by and boarded WITH Peter and Wendy were priceless!

So I think, based on our experience, that they are somewhat open to suggestions and the ride is not set in stone. I'm sure if you tell your tour guide of your DD's lack of love for IASW, they can make certain that your group sees a different attraction.

We have done the Family Magic Tour 5 times. We have done IASW once and Peter Pan once and Philharmagic three times. We love the tour! The character interaction is awsome. I bet your dd won't mind whatever ride they choose. The kids seem mesmerized (sp?) by Peter and Wendy! The whole tour is really fun, but the end really is magic.

can any one give a little more information about this program. like cost and time the tour takes.

We did Mickey's Philarmagic after our tour as well. It was great! My DD7 got to sit right next to Wendy! We had THE BEST TIME EVER!!!!!
Hopefully your DD will get caught up in the moment and just follow the character anywhere. Sending some pixie dust your way for a magical tour :wizard: pixiedust:

We did the FMT in August and ended with Phillarmagic as well. We weren't given a choice, but my kids wouldn't have minded whatever ride they were offered- they were just mesmerized at being with Wendy and Peter Pan.

I think if you told the tour guide at the beginning that your daughter didn't like IASW that they would just choose another ride. The whole thing was so great I can't even imagine them not listening to your request.

You'll have so much fun! :cool1:

We did this tour in Dec. '05 and went on Philharmagic at the end. My kids are not crazy about 3D movies, so I was wondering how they would react. They were willing to see it again (they'd seen it a year and a half before this trip), even though they were a little nervous. Wendy took DD6's hand and walked hand in hand with her to the ride. When we were seated, DS4 ended up next to Wendy and we were all in the front row. Soon after the show started, I looked over and saw DS in Wendy's lap! I scooted over and put him in my lap so Wendy wouldn't have to hold him. Wendy then spent the rest of the show helping DD cover her ears over the really loud parts. Afterwards, my DD told me that she guessed Wendy was so good at helping them because she was used to taking care of John and Michael! :)

Wendy was so great at helping my kids enjoy the experience. I'm sure that all tour guides, characters, etc involved would do the same for your DD. Who knows, if they do IASW, maybe it will become her new favorite ride! My kids have said that they're looking forward to trying Philharmagic again.

It's a great tour and really worth doing. Have fun!

Thanks for your help! :yay: I think that DD will get caught up by the character(s) but you never know. I am so excited to take her on this tour. Whatever happens I know we will have a great time! :wizard:

Hi all we did this last year & I did the same asked the boards for help and had a great response from Janet2k, which hopefully I've done this right so you can all read.
***WARNING!!!!***
It does give a full breakdown (all the clues!) of what happens so if you don't want the end to be spoilt STOP half way down - You have been warned!!!
Here goes, hope it works

Just to let you all know with ours when I phoned I did let them know that DS4 is a big Peter Pan & Captain Hook fan and sure enough our tour was to help find Hook's Hook but we had to keep it secret! :rolleyes1 pirate:

We followed the clues & found the hook & met Peter & Wendy. They asked us what our favourite ride was and then asked if we would like to go on a ride with them, as DS was 3 at the time they thought he may be a bit too small for some of the rides so suggested Philarmagic DS sat next to Peter DD sat next to Wendy. Peter & Wendy pointed at all the charcters and said hello to them, made all of us do a rooster call when he came on screen and shout "WE DO BELIEVE IN FAIRIES!" when Tink came on! :lmao: We all had an amazing time and were also made honorary lost boys & girls :cloud9:

Hope the above link works and that you have a magical time as well :wizard:

THanks! I had read your report awhile ago and this is what was the deciding factor for trying the tour! I know that dd will lose herself in the magic just like I will. I will call closer to my trip date to see if I can confirm the ride/characters. WHen I booked it I did tell the CM how much dd loves Peter Pan. DD will wear her tinkerbelle costume that day of our trip so hopefully it will be Peter and Wendy at the end.

Be sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes. You will be hoping, jumping, skipping, and crawling through the MK! They do not guarantee which character will be at the end. Sometimes there may be two characters and sometimes there is only one. We have done this tour several times and each time it is a little different... EACH TIME IS JUST AS WONDERFUL AS THE FIRST TIME!
