Family is getting older, plans change...

We've done that week of May on our last 2 trips. If school wasn't an issue with my kiddos, we would pick January over it. We would rather deal with the cool than the heat and in our experience May is busier than January. However that all being said we have found May to be a good compromise for our family that we get the trip in after school is out but before the mass crowds and intense heat.

So we've narrowed it down to two times of year and I wanted to get people's feedback on those two times.

Basically very first week of January, before anyone goes back to school. I know the parks are pretty dead, but I also know it's not very "warm" at this time of year. Thoughts?

The alternative is last week or so of MAY when everyone is out of school. then we're not splitting up the summer much, but at least we get to go to Disney. and it's nice and hot. But I think the crowds start building up by then. Thoughts?

We have been at both times - mostly cold and less crowds in early Jan. I'm a southern girl, and end of May is downright hot and humid - right through Sept. parts of Oct. We've even been in April which can be hot and humid also, but also can be cool and windy. Every year is different. I say go when the majority wants to go - you'll still enjoy it!

I'd pick January but wouldn't count on low crowds. It'll be plenty busy with folks sharing your same thought: Let's go before the kids go back to school. I'd rather be in Canada than Orlando in late May, and even if it's "cold" in Orlando in January, it'll be nicer there than any other place north of there. And if there is a cold snap, that'll keep some of the crowds under control.
