Family Disney Movie Night anyone??

we do this every Friday - DGD picks the movie of the night.

Think about renting the Disney Sing Along Songs. There are many different ones - Disneyland Fun, Beach Party at Walt Disney World, Campout at WDW and Flik's Musical Adventure. These are all filmed in the Disney parks and show many of the attractions. When my kids were "newbies" to WDW, they loved these and it gave them an idea of what happens on the rides and in the parks. Our local video store rents some of them (maybe you can find them locally as well) and you may be able to buy them from Amazon or ebay.

I remember growing up watching the Wonder World of Disney every Sunday night with my parents.

Before our March '05 trip to WDW we made Saturday night Disney movie night, with dinner in front of the t.v. It was a great prelude to the trip. Great list!!!!

I rented the Swiss Family Robinson (cause i read it on the boards :) ) and I wasn't sure if my DD7 and DD9 would actually watch it but man they didn't move through the whole movie and they watched it twice. Go figure! We leave in 11 days we could get some more in that length of time. We did fantasia and old mickey cartoons too. I also miss the Sunday night Disney movies on ABC.

Didn't see anyone mention Robin Hood (if I missed it I'm sorry), but there are quite a few characters at the park from that movie. Also, and old classic Love Bug (especially with the new one with Lindsay Lohan coming out, they should see the original first!)

I don't think that there are too many Disney movies out there that we don't have. They are all that my Son watches! So I would have to say that Disney Family movie night is every night at our house! :teeth:

This is a great idea! I just added Bambi to our collection plus a couple new Sing Along videos so we'll start with those and keep adding from the ideas posted here as the months go by. I want them to be as excited as I am about our trip next summer :jumping1:

How fun! I LOVE Rescuers Down Under--how come it (or The Rescuers) isn't represented at WDW? And it's a real trip to watch Dumbo--talk about time warp! The mouse getting drunk...Explain THAT to your kids.
Also LOVE Jungle Book--Baloo ROCKS! Sword and the Stone--I used to show scenes of that to my high school English classes when we studied King Arthur! Wait-I think I'm getting OT. Anyway, great idea for Disney movie night! I'm going to do that right now! :)

I just bought Fantasia 2000,Pinocchio, Fun and Fancy Free and the Apple Dumpling Gang at a garage sale today for $5 each (vhs) the kids were very pleased!! (So was Mom)

How funny that you mentioned this...getting ready to do a garage sale next weekend and I was wondering how much to price my Disney VHS for! I cannot tell you how many we have that I have no upgraded to DVD! So I was thinking $5 each and obviously that will work! Was going to do ebay, but didn't want the hassle of having to ship them out! Just bought Apple Dumpling Gang not too long ago on DVD, also Escape to Witch Mountain. My DS loves them both which I enjoy because I used to love both of them! Isn't it funny how in this day and age movies like that can still appeal to kids! Gotta love Disney!

I did the same thing before our trip last October. My dd2 was just getting into the princesses, so I borrowed about 20 movies from my dh's cousin. And House of Mouse is a must!!! ::MickeyMo

We leave again for WDW in 2 weeks from today :cool1: and we've still not seen Peter Pan or Pinnochio. That's something we've got to do before we go, because while she can pick out the characters and call them by name, she doesn't "know" them or what they do - like Tink, Jiminy Cricket, Geppeto, Captain Hook, etc....

We also have a huge Disney Storybook with about 100 stories in it. We read 2-3 a night, and that's how she has learned about Lady & the Tramp, Mickey as the Sorcerer, etc... :wizard:

Have fun! :mickeybar
